Ministries is a ministry of Watoto Church that rescues vulnerable children and
restores dignity to them by providing holistically for their physical,
spiritual and emotional needs. Watoto has operations in Kampala, Wakiso,
Mpigi and Gulu.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living like grooming,
    clothing, feeding and communication skills and initiate creative ideas on
    how to keep the special needs children active and engaged.
  • Ensure progressive physical, cognitive, emotional and psychological
    development of the children.
  • Create a conducive learning environment that meets the needs and
    interests of the children and individualise their education and learning
    with the guidance of a specialised teacher.
  • Provide regular reports regarding the activities, behaviour and
    developmental progress of the children as well as constant feedback on any
    observations made from interactions with the children.
  • Make timely referrals about the children’s status to the relevant
    stake holders for proper management of different cases as they arise.
  • Train and mentor mothers and other care providers on managing the
    children and take care of the children’s’ personal hygiene.
  • Ensure safety of the children as they interact with the community
    through close physical monitoring.
  • Ensure that the children receive their allotted daily nutritional
    rations in time and adhere to the medical routine and schedules.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Watoto Child Support Assistant job opportunity
    should hold  a diploma in Social
    Work, Social Science or Child Development.
  • At least 6 months working experience working with children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment and love
  • Has demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
