About US:
The Parliamentary
Commission of Uganda serves the following functions;
  • Appoint, promote and exercise
    disciplinary control over persons holding public office in Parliament;
  • Review the terms and conditions of
    service, standing orders, training and qualifications of persons holding
    office in Parliament;
  • Provide a Parliamentary reporting
    service;
  • Provide such other staff and facilities
    as are required to ensure efficient functioning of the Parliament;
  • To cause to be prepared in each
    financial year, estimates of revenue and expenditure for the next
    financial year; and
  • Make recommendations to Parliament, or
    with the approval of Parliament, determine the allowances payable and
    privileges available to the Speaker and Members of Parliament.
Job Summary:  The Senior Information Officer – Producer
will ensure radio content for the Parliamentary Radio meets the approved
broadcasting standards
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Generating and researching ideas for programmes
  • Managing the logistics of getting presenters, features writers and
    equipment together at the right place at the right time
  • Ensuring an archive of audio resources which can be re-used
  • Tasked with the editing of programmes and news scripts as necessary
  • Coordinate the recording and live broadcast of out of studio events.
  • Ensuring compliance to copyrights and media law.
  • Managing audience feedback.
  • Using technology, such as Cool Edit Pro, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition
    and Imediatouch, for editing and production purposes.
  • Carry out regular air checks for presenters to ensure quality output
  • Responsible for the broadcast work flows
  • Supervise the producer, presenters and feature writers
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold an Honors Degree in Mass Communication or
    Journalism with a bias in Broadcasting OR Bachelor’s degree with
    Postgraduate Diploma in Mass communication or Journalism
  • At least three (3) years working experience in the broadcasting/
    radio industry
  • Ability to use Sound editing programs and equipment like Cool
  • Edit Pro, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition and Imediatouch
  • Good command of both spoken and written English
  • Creative and innovative
  • Good editing skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Excellent leadership skills
