Job Summary: The IT Assistant will ensure that effective IT
systems are in place and meet the VSO country office needs

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Perform routine IT tasks to maintain the operation and security of
the country office’s IT systems, including daily backups and anti-virus
checks. - Ensure the systems are maintained in a cost effective manner
- Maintain IT records and conduct IT audits twice per year
- Work closely with the Operations Coordinator to procure high
quality, best value for money equipment and services - Generate innovative solutions to meet the country office current and
future needs. - Operate as one of the Country Office Net Administrators and be the
first point of call for IT issues - Build effective relationships with VSO and relevant external
contacts, ensuring good service and timely resolution of IT issues.
Volunteer

Support:
- Upon arrival, support volunteers to have a working telephone and
they understand how to access the internet. During ICO, support the delivery of IT
briefing. - Ensure communication methods with volunteers are effective, up to
date and functional (e.g. platform, facebook etc.) and recommend
innovative, cost effective solutions to maintain contact with
volunteers.

- Maintain country office’s electronic filing system
- Maintain VSO Uganda’s data systems including timely accurate data
input - Use relevant systems to complete surveys, volunteer allowance review
and in country orientation feedback forms, creating meaningful management
reports - Produce regular management reports and ad-hoc reports to meet the
country office reporting needs. - Ensure data protection is adhered to and all staff and volunteers
are up to date with the new systems and processes.
Staff Support:
- Provide ongoing IT training and coaching to new and existing team
members so they are able to work effectively, efficiently and
compliantly. Provide training on
new systems and/or databases as required - Resolve staff IT issues in a timely manner.
Other – Fulfill other appropriate level

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience working with international Non-Government
Organisations is desirable - Experience of working with volunteers is also an added advantage
- IT Skills – Highly experienced in Microsoft packages and general
office systems, including servers. - Network Administration – Ability to support maintenance and repair
of computer hardware. Ability to
solve server and network issues. - Data management – excellent data input, data management and
reporting skills. - Flexibility to adapt to new situations, with a positive attitude to
working in an international organisation. Able to travel
occasionally. - Communication skills – fluent in English and Khmer
- Team working and Commitment to VSO values
- Clean driving license.
