About US:
The Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda is mandated to
regulate, supervise, monitor and control the business of Insurance in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Manager Regulation & Drafting
will provide effective statutory and legal support to IRA so that legislations
are in place in accordance to the Insurance Act and other pertinent laws.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide regulatory, legal
    advice to IRA network.
  • Review, research and draft
    pertinent legal documents in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Actively participate in
    monitoring and reviewing legislation.
  • Provide report on
    legislation affecting operations of IRA as and when the need arises
  • Actively participate in
    preparing Board papers for board meetings.
  • Provide support to the
    Operations Directorate on inspection matters.
  • Work in liaison with the
    Manager Complaints & Litigation, review and provide advice on
    inquiries, litigation and general public queries.
  • Participate in
    implementing Board decisions that are legally related.
  • Carry out any other duties
    as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for
    the Insurance Regulatory Authority
    of Uganda     Manager Regulation & Drafting job placement must hold
    a Bachelor’s degree in Law
  • Postgraduate diploma in
    law
  • Master’s degree in Law
  • Seven years of
    post-enrolment experience in drafting of laws, guidelines, agreements, etc
    as an advocate in a similar/related organization, three of which must be
    at supervisory level in a reputable organisation.
