Job Summary:  The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible
for coordinating and supporting all aspects of logistical support to SP
Uganda’s Moroto field office. He/she will be required to effectively maintain
asset inventories, support ongoing procurement and assist with any base related
functions. In addition, he/she is to maintain excellent working relationships
with field-level Area Coordinator, Project Managers and country-level senior
management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Implement/maintain
Samaritan Purse standard practices in logistics procedures.
  • Provide support to logistics operations in order to ensure timely
    deliveries and advice to Moroto field office team.
  • Ensure up-to-date and accurate records of all logistics activities.
  • Procure goods and services following Samaritan Purse standard
    practices and provide advice/negotiate contracts required by sub-office
    for goods and services.
  • Maintain up-to-date inventory of Samaritan’s Purse assets, both
    capital and non-expendable assets.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements for vehicle use, including
    insurance, registration, licensing and taxation. Plan and organize the
    Moroto Field Office transportation requirements and plan best use of
    vehicles.
  • Represent Samaritan’s Purse to service providers and government
    entities where required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all relevant logistics
    and procurement activity, enabling tracking and cross-checking of
    requests.
  • Coordinate with programming field staff to determine the types of
    quantities of operations support, supplies and equipment that will be
    required immediately and over the long term to meet program objectives.
  • Prepare required regular, timely and accurate narrative monthly
    reports on activity to the Logistics Manager.
  • Support, guide and orient Moroto field staff on logistics policies,
    systems and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as designated by the Country Director or
    Logistics Manager.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Samaritan’s Purse Logistics Coordinator job
    placement should hold possess excellent interpersonal, communication and
    negotiation skills: able to liaise with vendors, Kampala Logistics team,
    and Senior Management team.
  • The ideal candidate must have three years of experience with an
    International NGO or UN agency in a Logistics role.
  • The applicant must hold a university degree in International
    Development, General Management, Business, Transport and Logistics
    Management or Other relevant field or significant training in logistics
    and supply chain management.
  • Professional certification in Logistics & Transport and knowledge
    of Information Technology is an added advantage.
  • S/he should have an excellent understanding of and experience in
    logistics and supply chain management, the geographical area of
    assignment, and computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power
    Point.
  • The successful candidate should have ability to pay attention to
    detail, commitment to excellence, integrity and stewardship of resources.
  • Pro-active and disciplined with good critical thinking skills.
  • Understands and exemplifies diplomacy and a service-oriented
    approach.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work and support teams and coordinate closely with
    project personnel in order to achieve targets and outputs.
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and respect regardless of ethnic
    group, class or gender.
  • Willingness to travel within Uganda as needed.
  • Fluency in English, Luo and Ngakaramajong languages is also an added
    advantage.
