established in 1988, and duly registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU
is actively involved in programs geared towards the protection and improvement
of lives of disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda and
in the Great Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of
Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health
(HIV&AIDS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation
& Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management
and Governance systems.
Job Summary:
The PSN Assistant           will support
the PSN Officer to plan, coordinate and implement all activities planned for
the PSN and ensure efficient and effective access to services in consideration
to the set standard operating procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Process Management:
  • Assist the PSN Officer in organizing multi-functional meetings
    stakeholders meetings and monthly meetings with beneficiaries
  • Responsible for identification of needs of POC with Disabilities,
    older persons and POC of protection concerns (POC with specific needs)
    through conducting social assessments.
  • Ensure that PoC with specific needs access services at the program
    and available public services.
  • Assist PSN Officer in distribution of NFI and other basic
    necessities to POC
  • Organize community outreaches and sensitize refugee and host
    communities geared towards supporting Persons with Specific needs.
  • Network and collaborate with the key stakeholders to address the
    issues of POC with specific needs
  • Refer Persons with Specific Needs 
    for  appropriate services
    within InterAid  and externally
  • Organize and conduct protection activities for Persons with Specific
    needs including both national and internationalthe participation of
    persons with specific needs social events.
  • Provide   information and
    guidance to POC (individuals and in group) to enhance their protection.
  • Provide support  to the  groups of POC with disabilities, older
    persons and POC of protection concerns to strengthen their coping in the
    urban
  • Document any best practices, success stories during the
    implementation for reference, publication and learning
  • Compile timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and specific
    activity reports and work plans
  • Actively participate in meetings, information dissemination
    sessions, special events and any other duties that may be assigned from
    time to time by the Supervisors.
Records Management
  • Maintain proper and updated records on POC with Disabilities, older
    persons and POC of protection concerns
  • Sign in and out all accessed PoC files at the records office as per
    agreed SoPs
Support to other
teams and sections:
Contribute
to coordinate the integrated protection activities in the urban refugee program
s and other interventions to promote their protection.
Risk Management: Identify, assess, report, develop and report
strategies to mitigate against risks that may happen in the PSN section and
other programs of the section.
Compliance
  • Ensure that the internal process and work plans are adhered to and
    any adjustments communicated in the right forum.
  • Ensure compliance to policies and procedures during designing,
    execution, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the program activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) PSN
    Assistant job opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree
    in Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration, Psychology,
    Community Psychology, Counselling & Guidance, Development Studies or
    any equivalent.
  • Professional training in handling Persons with Disability and Older
    Persons is added advantage.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in working with vulnerable
    populations or Persons with Specific Needs
  • Good interviewing skills
  • Good listening skills
  • Case management skills
  • Good report writing skills
