& Immunity Research and Training (MUII-plus); established in 2008, aims to
bring the premier research University (Makerere University) together with the
premier health research institute (Uganda Virus Research Institute) in Uganda,
to help train health researchers in the 21st Century. Over the period
2016-2020, MUII-plus is working to transition to a Centre of Excellence,
providing support and opportunities not only for trainees, but for all
scientists in Uganda interested in the field of infection and immunity. The Centre
(MUII-plus), is based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), and
collaborates with the Makerere University Colleges of Health Sciences (CHS),
College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) and Veterinary Medicine, Animal Health and
Biosecurity (CoVAB) as well as the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI).
Job Summary:  The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)
Assistant will support the Centre Manager (MUII-plus) to collect and analyze
systematic data from MUII fellows for the quarterly and annual reports. He/ she
will also support the communications specialist in maintaining web content,
executing social media strategies and maintaining calendars and appointments.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)
    Assistant must hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree from a reputable
    university
  • Two or more years’ relevant experience
    in a position of monitoring and evaluation including report writing skills
    and written communication skills in English
  • Experience in designing/formulating
    monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Experience with execution in data
    collection, entry and analysis and related work; with proficient use of
    data analysis software such as EXCEL, SPSS or STATA
  • Basic knowledge in development of web
    based data collection tools such as survey monkey is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, manage
    time, set goals and motivate colleagues
  • Personal integrity, ability to
    learn,-flexibility and concern for excellence
  • Experience in maintaining web content
    and executing social media strategies is an added advantage
