Job Summary:   The Finance Analyst  will provide support to the Finance Director
and the management teams by generating financial management information such as
budget Vs Actual expenditure reports, net dollar investment per facility and
per program area and the different technical funding streams.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Budget management and reporting
  • Generate monthly program
    and stream specific actual expenditure reports against budgets
  • Project and track agreed
    monthly specific budgets with each budget holder against actual spend and
    patterns/trends
  • Work in liaison with the
    Program teams to develop costed work plans by geographical locations
    (Clusters and districts), program area and by Facility
  • Work with Budget holders
    in developing adjusted plans aligned to the available budgets
  • Prepare tailored
    expenditure trends per program area, location and by facility
  • Review the per dollar
    investment in program areas such as FP to ensure the costs are
    commensurate with numbers reached-making necessary journal adjustments to
    correct anomalies.
  • Review transactional
    requests from program and operations teams for budget availability before
    they are forwarded to procurement for execution or to financial accounts
    for payment.
Budgeting
  • Work closely with the
    Finance Director and departmental heads in developing the annual budgets.
  • Update annual operating
    and Revenue budgets into the IHBIRD data base
Periodic standard reports:
  • Prepare quarterly donor
    financial reports with support from the Finance Director
  • Prepare quarterly accrual
    reports
  • Prepare the monthly
    consolidated Expenditure tracker used by the HQ teams in tracking the
    overall performance of the project budget.
Cost share tracking and reporting:
  • Work with department
    leaders to consolidate cost share projections at the beginning of every
    month.
  • Track and follow up
    departmental leaders over the actual yields of cost share against the
    planned forecasts for the month using cost share reported actuals vs
    projections per department
Management of Overheads and operational costs
  • Keenly review the charging
    of overhead costs to ensure there’s fair share allocation to all funding
    streams every month.
  • Analyse vehicle fuel,
    service and repair costs against periodic mileage covered and ascertain
    the effectiveness in the fleet pool.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The ideal applicants for
    the Intrahealth International Finance Analyst job placement should hold a
    Bachelor of Commerce/Accounting degree from a recognized University
  • A member of an Accounting
    professional body
  • Experience working with
    institutional donors such as USAID preferred
  • At least four years’
    experience in a busy accounting or auditing environment
  • Holds self accountable for
    results
  • Highly analytical and with
    good presentation skills
  • Excellent financial
    reporting
  • Excellent communication
    and Interpersonal skills
