About US:
National Water and
Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) a leading organisation in the Water sector in
Uganda with a Vision “To be a leading Water Utility in the World.” NWSC is a
utility parastatal 100% owned by The Government of Uganda. It was established
in 1972 under decree No: 34. The mandate of the Corporation as defined in the
National Water & Sewerage Corporation Statute of 1995, Section 5 (1), is to
operate and provide water and sewerage services in areas entrusted to it, on a
sound, commercial and viable basis. The NWSC operations were initially in three
towns of Kampala, Jinja, and Entebbe.
Job Summary:   The
Industrial Mechanical Technician
primarily maintains availability, reliability and maintainability of machinery,
and mechanical equipment and system.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Perform
scheduled predictive and preventive maintenance task on a variety of equipment
such as pumps (surface & borehole), blowers, compressors, mechanical drives
and material handling devices,
·        
Inspect
and test mechanical equipment, components and assemblies
·        
Diagnose
sources of problems by and performs root cause analysis for all the faults
identified, and carryout repair/replacement/modification of components and
systems.
·        
Clean,
lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
·        
Carryout
installation of new mechanical equipment
·        
Performs
minor and major overhauls
·        
Test run
repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
·        
Advises
on the type and specifications of new tools required.
·        
Prepares
specification for equipment’s, components/spare parts and sub-assemblies to be
procured
·        
Complete
work orders, test and maintenance reports
·        
Prepares
monthly and situational specific reports
·        
Performs
any other job assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for the National Water
    and Sewerage Corporation Industrial Mechanical Technician jobs should hold
    Ordinary Diplomas in Mechanical Engineering from recognized Technical
    Institutes
  • A minimum of three years of experience
    in the related field, preferably in a utility
  • Possesses a high level of initiative, commitment
    to work, ability to meet tight deadlines, excellent communication and
    inter personal skills
  • Be good player, highly motivated and
    capable of working with minimum supervision
  • Be able to work independently, produce
    results and meet set targets
  • Be able to demonstrate high levels of
    customer care
  • Be willing to work in any designated
    operational Area in Uganda 6) Should not have any criminal record
  • Age: Below 35 years
