Senior Accountant
institute of the German Adult Education Association, DVV International, has been
active in the field of adult education in Uganda for many years and is
presently working with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development
and Non-Governmental partners for an integrated, professional and
self-sustainable adult education system in Uganda.
International secured funding from the European Union to implement a 3 year
project entitled “Green Livelihood Opportunities through Local Service Delivery
Optmisation” (GLOServe), in partnership with Namayingo, Mpigi, Iganga and Nwoya
districts and MGLSD as an associate.
Finance/Administration Officer is responsible for providing financial,
administrative and general office management services in order to ensure
effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations in DW
International’s Uganda Country Office with emphasis on the GLOServe project. DW
International therefore intends to hire an individual for the GLOServe project
period 2018-2020:
- The Primary point of contact for Uganda Country Office
- Ensure timely submission, review and approval of DVV International
programme financial requisitions and expenses. - Ensure proper records keeping and monthly cash count and
reconciliation. - Assist with field planning and budget tracking and realignments as
required - Management of organizational equipment in the Country Office and
maintain an updated inventory including verification. - Participate in preparation of expenditure verification/audit.
- Ensure office consumables are supplied regularly and requisitions
made in advance. - Ensure country office meeting proceedings/minutes are taken and
filled. - Supervise general cleanliness of offices and surrounding
environment.
- The Finance/Administration Officer must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
Business Administration – accounting option or its equivalent; - At least two years of working experience in the related field
working with a reputable local or preferably international NGO; - Adequate knowledge of computer applications e.g. Word, Excel and
Power Point; - Good knowledge of accounting and financial software such as
Peachtree, QuickBooks, etc; - Experience in handling clerical duties including filling, answering
phone calls, responding to emails, schedule meetings, taking minutes,
travel arrangements for staff members and preparing documents; - Experience in performing accounting tasks including petty cash
management, handling payments and budget tracking as well as providing
administrative support to the operation team; - Prior experience in working with EU funded projects is an additional
advantage.
