learning tools like robot-building to improve learning outcomes. Through the
process of building robots, the students get practical skills in computer
science, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering,
computer programming and soft skills like project management, teamwork and
innovation. As a result of this process, the students understand their science
curriculum better, are prepared better for future technology oriented careers
and they are empowered to be innovative community change-makers.
Job Summary: The
Communications Associate will be responsible for coordinating internal and
external communications for Fundi Bots beneficiaries, partners, media and the
general public. The Communications Associate will also provide communications
support to Fundi Bots leadership, management and operations staff. The
communications will be through print, digital and social media.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Provide content updates to the Fundi Bots
    website including multi-media content, galleries, blogs and other content
    sections
  • Manage and grow Fundi Bots social media
    presence (content, audience and platforms)
  • Support communication between Fundi Bots
    and external audiences by updating, sharing and publishing information via
    email, newsletter, social media and print media
  • Create regular digital content for
    website, social and other digital platforms through constant documentation
    of Fundi Bots activities in photo, video and text formats
  • Brainstorm and create special digital
    content to highlight milestones, reports and activities of past events and
    promotions of upcoming events
  • Maintain, tag and organize an archive of
    all Fundi Bots digital and physical media collected from various team
    members, volunteers and partners
  • The Fundi Bots Communications Associate
    will also collect and maintain records of media releases and permission
    from Fundi Bots beneficiaries and partners, including lists of students
    excluded from public media publications
  • Ensure that all internal and external
    communications follows a standardized and consistent branding guide
  • Engage social media audiences with
    courtesy and professionalism
  • Track and analyse media engagement for
    Fundi Bots websites and social media and periodically share engagement
    reports with the Fundi Bots team.
  • Provide ongoing communications plans and
    strategies to the management team

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The Fundi Bots Communications Associate
    should have demonstrated experience or interest in professional
    communications
  • Excellent writing skills including
    experience writing for newsletters, the web and social media
  • Strong knowledge of social media tools,
    platforms and audiences
  • Maintain strong professional etiquette
    with social media communications and engagement
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and
    projects under tight deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and work
    proactively and with minimal supervision
  • Photography & videography skills
    will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of digital design and video
    editing software will be a strong advantage
