for over thirty years. ACF has been implementing Food Security and Livelihoods,
Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs in the Lango, Acholi, West
Nile and Karamoja regions of Northern Uganda.
Job Summary: The
Cashier will be responsible for the cash boxes and advance book. To make sure
all the donor contract files are in order and are available in a timely fashion.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
Cash Management
  • Responsible for finance at capital level by ensuring the respect of
    ACF finance procedures related to cash management
  • Make cash payments and advances, ONLY if the payment /Cash
    request/Purchase
  • Order has been duly approved by the authorized signatories
  • Ensure each transaction is justified by an appropriate
    invoice/receipt, and to ensure the quality of receipts (name, patent
    number, stamp, description, date, amount etc)
  • Instantly record cash transactions in the manual cashbook to ensure
    the book balance at the end of the day matches with the actual cash
  • Responsible for making follow-ups on advances by making sure
    advances are cleared within 48 hours and no advances are outstanding at
    the end of the month and when staff goes on Leave. And maintain an up to
    date advance book.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly cash counts with the Finance Officer as
    per of the ACF internal control
  • Submit the monthly Cash box transactions book to the Finance officer
    check and completely file by the 2nd of the following month.
Cash Forecast
  • Actively participate with the Finance Officer and the others
    department of the monthly/weekly cash forecast of the Capital
  • Submit each week the balance of the cash book and the needs for the
    replenishment in of cash for Kampala office
Verification and
filling of the mission accountancy documents as per the Kit Admin
  • Follow up with the field to ensure that all hard copies of Finance
    documents are sent to Kampala on time.
  • Verify the accountancy from the field by ensuring that each
    transaction is justified by an appropriate invoice/receipt, and that the
    procurement files are attach to the expenses.
  • Report any missing documents and dubious documents to the Finance
    Officer
  • Make the follow-up with the actual Archivist of the filling and
    ensure this task after a proper induction
  • Maintain all finance documents in the appropriate folders and ensure
    that the classification and filling is made as per the ACF Kit Admin
  • Maintain up to date the Archiving follow-up file and sent it to the
    Finance team in Kampala at the end of the month
Support the Finance
department in any other tasks:
  • Act for the finance officer while out of office
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned.
  • Support in the retrieving and presenting of finance documents to
    Auditors during an audit.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Action Against Hunger (ACF) Cashier job
    opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration,
    Finance and Accounting or any other equivalent area.
  • One year of similar work experience with another NGO;
  • Fluent English written and spoken
  • Professional computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, internet,
    and email;
  • Good management, communication, teamwork spirit, and capacity building;
  • Ability to work independently when necessary, set realistic goals,
    and work within agreed timelines;
  • Ability to communicate and perform within an international and
    multicultural team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to support others
