Job Summary:
The Graduation and Markets Officer will be tasked with overseeing the graduation
of the market beneficiaries and the market systems development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Planning, developing and implementing market development activities.
  • Coordinate, supervise, train and support the Literacy Trainers,
    Graduation Field Supervisors and Graduation Mentors.
  • Actively promote innovative services and facilitate linkages among
    market actors
  • Ensure appropriate and demand-driven training of market students.
  • Actively participate in identification and assessment of economic
    opportunities and resources, needs and potential activities as well as
    challenges.
  • Identify value-addition opportunities that strengthen economic
    opportunities, especially for young women and rural youth, in the
    livestock and agriculture sectors as identified by local and national
    government as well as independent market studies and needs assessments.
  • Advocate for the program to relevant stakeholders including local
    business owners, local representatives and community members
  • Identify, assess and develop networks and strategies for potential
    private, public and civil society sector partnerships. participate in
    developing and implementing technical and financial capacity building
    programmes for business
  • Tasked with mobilization of targeted youth to fully participate in
    the program for sustainability. Develop work plans and reports as per
    reporting schedule.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of program activities.
  • Keenly analyze project implementation strategies to identify
    constraints to program success and provide timely recommendations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Caritas Graduation and Markets Officer job must
    hold a Bachelor in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce,
    Agribusiness, Economics or Development Studies with two years of
    experience’ in business or market/economic development or a diploma in
    Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, Agribusiness, Economics or
    Development Studies with three years of experience in business or
    market/economic development.
  • Previous experience with market facilitation, supporting systemic
    change and promoting supporting services.
  • Excellent knowledge of a wide variety of market development tools
    and approaches.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural or livestock sectors is highly
    desirable.
  • Practical experience in working with small and medium sized
    companies in development
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills as well as
    business-minded.
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
  • Sensitivity and diplomacy in working with socially disadvantaged
    communities.
  • Very good analytical and information management skills.
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to follow procedures and meet
    deadlines and work cooperatively with team members.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proven skills in riding a motorcycle and possession of a valid
    riding license.
  • Knowledge of Nga’Karimojong language is an added advantage.
