(SAO – U) is a National Christian founded child focused NGO empowering
households and communities to fulfill their obligations in child care and
development and affiliated to Baptist Union of Uganda. Share An Opportunity –
Uganda’s key thematic areas are child health, Basic Education for OVC’s, Child
Advocacy, Enterprise Development and food security, and institutional
development for community based organisations while HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed in
the program.
Job Summary:  The Child and Youth Programme Coordinator will
spearhead youth focused interventions a cross the organisation by managing,
developing and planning of programs that foster a positive environment within
child and youth programming. He/she will encourage and promote a supportive
environment for children and youth to address barriers they may be
experiencing. The Coordinator works in cooperation with field staff,
individuals and groups in the community to ensure the wellbeing of children and
confident youth participating in a flourishing community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Program Management
  • To
    assist in developing and coordinating the implementation and evaluation of
    the child and youth programs
  • Ensure  and offer support to the smooth
    operations for Child and Youth programs
  • Ensure
    proper design and development of Child and Youth programmes
  • Tasked
    with the proper coordination of field office operations and Head office
  • Identify
    and report trends and priorities needed for children and youth in the
    community.
  • Determine
    the gaps in service delivery and recommends strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure
    that the programs and services are effective in meeting the needs of all
    children and youth, and adhere to the organizational objectives.
  • Work
    collaboratively with other program staff in the organization.
  • Provide
    orientation and maintain 
    awareness  to programme staff
    to deliver children and youth programs
  • Ensure
    implementation of policies, procedures and develop others if necessary
  • Build
    capacity across the organization staff for children and youth friendly
    programming.
  • Ensure
    proper communication, participation and motivation among staff and foster
    a positive team environment.
Administrative and Financial
Management of the Program
  • Participate
    in creating the budget for programs in consultation with the Program
    Manager
  • Monitor
    and manage the program expenditures
  • Participate
    in the concepts and proposal development in liaison with the programmes
    manager
  • Submit
    well laid out reports accordance to the organizational report frame works
  • Actively
    participate in team meetings, professional development activities and
    other organization activities

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development
    studies or equivalent degree in a related field
  • Five
    years of experience working with children and youths
  • Three
    years of experience managing programs and staff
  • Capacity
    to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Capacity
    to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong
    ability to work independently
  • Excellent
    interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong
    computer skills
