is a non-governmental humanitarian national organization established in 1988,
and duly registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU is actively involved
in programs geared towards the protection and improvement of lives of
disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda and in the Great
Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of Rights
Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health (HIV&AIDS;
Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
(WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management and Governance
systems.
Job Summary: The Senior Livelihood
Officer will actively promote the economic inclusion of refugees by ensuring
they have sustainable livelihood.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Process Management:
        
Manage
the livelihood desk and supervise all livelihood planned activities of the
program.
        
Take the
lead in developing organizational policy and positions on livelihoods &
self-reliance and its sub-sectors: microfinance, employment promotion,
entrepreneurship, private sector development, local economic
recovery/poverty-reduction strategies, and access to technology, agriculture
& livestock, natural resource management, Vocational and Technical
Education and Training
        
Identify
data trends that can inform the prioritization of organizational resources as
well as policy
        
Offer technical
support to the refugees as regards their livelihoods
        
Represent
IAU and participate in Sector meetings and other forums
        
Oversee
the training of PoC and host communities in group formation and dynamics,
business /Entrepreneurship skills development, advocacy among others.
        
Oversee
the monitoring and field visits on IGAs granted and any other livelihood
activities implemented.
        
Ensure
that community visits and assessment of groups are done and supervised before
releasing IGA funds
        
Offer technical
support to refugees through developing and implementing business plans for
self-reliance.
        
Providing
technical advice and support to refugees in agricultural production for
self-reliance.
        
Actively
participate in program planning for the livelihood section
        
Provide
regular reporting on indicators, achievements and challenges related to the
project
        
Review
weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and specific activity reports submitted by
the Livelihood Officer and provide quality presentations and briefings to IAU
Senior Management
Support to Staff & Other
Managers:
        
Oversee
that relevant work plans for projects are produced and that division of
responsibilities amongst team members is always clear
        
Support,
guide and coach team members on technical and operational issues
Risk Management:
        
Identify,
assess and develop strategies to mitigate against risks that may happen in the
programs of the section and PoCs who are the beneficiaries.
        
Monitor
the implementation of mitigation strategies against risks related to work and
Agriculture.
Compliance:
        
Ensure
that the internal process and work plans are adhered to.
        
Ensure
compliance to policies and procedures during designing, execution, monitoring
and evaluation of the livelihood activities.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
        
The
ideal candidate for the InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) Senior Livelihood Officer
job opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Development
Studies, Socio-Economic Development Administration, Micro Finance or any
business related course
        
Possession of post graduate qualifications in
micro-finance, banking or any
business management course
        
At least five years of relevant work experience in a
similar role
        
Prior experience in micro finance and loans
management is desirable
        
Ability to positively influence others, creating
acceptance and support for ideas.
        
Record of capacity building / delivering training
and workshop facilitation in a relevant topic
        
Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a strong
commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principle
        
Excellent communication skills, oral written and presentation.
        
Excellent computer skills e.g.  in Ms Word, excel and power point
        
Experience with managing teams
        
People centred.
        
Good report writing skills
        
Ability to work under a multi-cultural environment.
