About Us:
The Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) was established under
Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act 2013
and incorporated under the Company’s Act 2012. It is a limited liability
company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC
is; “To handle the State’s Commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry.”
Job Summary: The Geophysicist
is a geophysics focal point within a multi-disciplinary subsurface team,
responsible for comprehensive analysis and interpretation of Geophysical data
to generate economically justified investment opportunities for the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Advise and monitor the acquisition of
    geophysical data to ensure quality.
  • Interpret and evaluate geophysical data to determine
    subsurface structure to support definition of resource base and drilling
    targets.
  • Develop 3D reservoir models to understand
    structure, reservoir characterisation and petroleum quality and quantity.
  • Participate in the estimation of the
    petroleum resources/ Reserves.
  • Propose optimal solutions to field
    development of UNOC oil and gas assets.
  • Participate in Joint Venture activities on
    jointly operated assets.
  • Develop well proposals and drilling
    targets in conjunction with a multidisciplinary geoscience team.
  • Provide support in the development of
    reservoir management and surveillance programs and identify further
    opportunities in fields on production.
  • Participate in definition of proposals for
    field development.
  • Support the exploration team in evaluating
    and ranking the resources, risks and uncertainties of the prospects to be
    drilled and suggest technical exploration and development programs.
  • Assist in the development of operational
    procedures for E&P operations and assist in ensuring that all
    operations are conducted according to approved procedures.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Master’s Degree
    in Petroleum Geophysics, Geosciences or any relevant degree.
  • Post graduate qualification in management
    of petroleum operations will be an added advantage.
  • At least six years’ experience in
    Petroleum E&P Operations.
  • Skilled in integrated reservoir modelling.
  •  Knowledge of development and production
    operations, Health & Safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with geophysics data
    analysis and integration software suites, such as PETREL, Kingdom and
    Landmark
