About US:
Watoto Child Care Ministries is a ministry of Watoto Church that
rescues vulnerable children and restores dignity to them by providing
holistically for their physical, spiritual and emotional needs. Watoto has
operations in Kampala, Wakiso, Mpigi and Gulu.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Actively participates in routine
    laboratory operations within the areas of hematology, chemistry,
    microbiology, immunology, parasitology and as assigned by the MLC.
  • The jobholder shall plan, coordinate and
    organise all the medical laboratory screenings within Watoto medical
    services.
  • Updates and maintains inventory of
    laboratory supplies/stock within the laboratory.
  • Works closely with fellow laboratory
    scientists, MLC and Procurement to ensure that all the laboratories are
    well stocked.
  • Ensures compliance to policies and
    Standard Operating Procedures, including continual development of
    policies, protocols, departmental forms and guidelines within the
    laboratory section
  • Ensure the laboratory environment is
    maintained clean, safe and secure at all times and participate in any risk
    assessment and risk mitigation that may arise
  • The job holder shall maintain the quality
    and safety of laboratory equipment, reagents and supplies



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The
    applicant for the Watoto laboratory technologist job should hold a diploma
    in M
    edical Laboratory with an interest in microbiology. A degree in
    Laboratory Science shall be an added advantage.
  • Two
    years working experience in microbiology department.
  • Good inter-personal skills and ability to
    relate well with children of all ages.
  • Should be passionate about community
    health care with ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • High level of motivation and initiative
    and strive for a high standard of practice.
