University Research Co., LLC (URC) is implementing the USAID’s Defeat
TB project. Aligned with Objective #3 in USAID’s Country Development
Cooperation Strategy and in support of the Government of Uganda’s TB Program,
this five-year, USAID funded project’s goal is to increase TB case
notification, case detection, and treatment outcomes through health system
strengthening. The Defeat TB project goal is to increase TB case
notification, case detection, and treatment outcomes through health system
strengthening with the aim of ending the TB epidemic in Uganda.

Job Summary: The CSO TB
Technical Officer will be responsible for CSOs in implementation of TB
infection control measures, TB case finding in accordance to the national
guidelines and also support the capacity building of CSOs to effectively
implement Defeat TB project in achievement of the project goals.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- To promote efforts of CSOs in expansion of
TB case finding, TB case holding, and other innovations. - Review of CSOs technical proposals and
offer necessary guidance. - Support activity planning and budgeting by
the CSOs. - Provide most relevant guidance to CSOs in
relation to the country’s TB epidemiology. - Train CSO staff & volunteers in
community management of TB, TB/HIV, Paediatric TB & MDR-TB - Support the implementation of TB
activities by the CSOs. - Ensure that adequate supplies such as
sputum containers, x-ray vouchers, record cards, etc are available. - Provide regular support supervision to the
CSOs. - Maintain an up to date record of CSO
activities and results. - Monitor of CSOs activities on the weekly,
monthly and quarterly basis. Participate in evaluation of CSO performance. - Review of CSOs weekly technical reports on
TB case finding, and monthly & quarterly reports on all community TB
control activities. - Organize for quarterly performance review
meetings with the CSOs to get updates on activity implementation,
challenges faced and recommendations. - Advise CSOs volunteers about adherence of
patients and treatment supporters. - Promote CSO collaboration & linkages
with TB Diagnostic & Treatment Units, the TASO community linkages team
and all private clinics, drugs shop & pharmacies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants for the USAID Defeat TB
Project CSO TB Technical Officer job opportunity must hold a diploma or
degree in medical or other related field. - At least two years of work experience in
TB - Demonstrated clear understanding of
current National TB trends and priorities - Previous experience in disseminating
continuous quality improvement initiatives. - Ability to analyze, understand and discuss
new program design, management and implementation approaches - Excellent proposal writing and report
writing skills - Demonstrated organizational and
supervisory skills and abilities; sound judgment, and high ethical
standards; flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines - Strong oral and written communication
skills - Demonstrated capacity to build and
maintain productive working relationships with the community
