About US:
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAU) is the national
professional accountancy body in Uganda, established by the Accountants Act.
The Institute also has a mandate to conduct professional accountancy
examinations in Uganda. The Institute is mandated to also:
        
Regulate and maintain the Standard of
Accountancy in Uganda.
        
Prescribe and regulate the conduct of
accountants and practising accountants in Uganda.
Job Summary:   The
Director for Education provides leadership in all matters relating to the
education function at the
ICPAU and is responsible for IFAC’S SMO 2, Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB) and the Committee of
Council in charge of Education.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the strategic and tactical
    processes throughout the Education function.
  • Formulate an appropriate strategy which
    strikes a perfect balance between ICPAU’s strategic plan, Members and
    Students and other Stakeholders’ requirements.
  • Develop and implement functional
    objectives in line with ICPAU’s strategic plan.
  • Maintain consumer satisfaction by
    sustaining the quality of services offered as well as resolving the
    employers, members and students complaints and queries.
  • Provide leadership to Education and
    Examinations teams.
  • Supervise the delivery of ICPAU’s
    Certifications, Initial Professional Development (IPD), Continuing
    Professional Development (CPD) and Study materials development.
  • Develop an innovative leadership strategy
    for accomplishment of ICPAU’s goals.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the
    ICPAU’s annual Education plan.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by
    the Secretary/CEO



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a University
    degree
  • Certified Public Accountant or Post
    Graduate Qualification in Education
  • Qualification in Education is added
    advantage
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in
    education assessment or management, or accounting or auditing.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of best
    practice in Education
  • Knowledge of regulatory framework for the
    accountancy profession e.g. Accountants Act 2013, IFAC’s Statements of
    Membership Obligations (SMOs).
  • Previous experience in communicating with
    regulators and assisting with regulatory enquiries.
  • Excellent public presentation and
    interaction skills.
  • Excellent
    command of the English language (both
    spoken and written).
  • Good
    communication and computer skills.
  • Excellent
    interpersonal skills.
  • Have
    analytical and problem–solving skills.
  • Be
    creative, innovative, adaptable and have a passion for quality

    possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problems.
