Rakai Health Sciences Program
is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It
strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a
combination of community based research, curative services and prevention
strategies in the District of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at the
Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai District.
About CDC Program:
With funding from PEPFAR/
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), RHSP is implementing a 5 year
comprehensive HIV/ AIDS program in the 12 districts of Masaka region namely;
Rakai, Kyotera, Masaka, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Lyantonde, Lwengo, Sembabule,
Butambala, Gomba, Mpigi, and Kalangala with an aim of achieving rapid HIV
epidemic control.
Job Summary: The Regional
PMTCT/EID Manager will be responsible for coordination and overseeing the
implementation of EMTCT/ EID services in Masaka region. This person will
provide technical assistance to the district teams to ensure timely and quality
accelerated EMTCT / EID service delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate implementation of all EMTCT/ EID
    activities related to the project in the supported districts.
  • Provide oversight for the mentorship of project
    and health facility teams in EMTCT/ EID services in line with MoH policies
    and procedures.
  • Work with the relevant district personnel to
    ensure provision of an integrated information package for improving care for HIV positive pregnant and
    lactating mothers.
  • Support community demand and community based
    activities for HIV positive pregnant and lactating mothers in the
    supported areas to improve identification, uptake and retention.
  • Strengthen documentation and records management
    of pediatric, HIV positive pregnant and lactating mother’s data using
    appropriate tools and online systems.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Regional PMTCT/EID Manager job opportunity should
    hold a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery
  • Possession of a post graduate training in Public Health and or
    pediatrics will be an added advantage
  • Specialized training in HIV/AIDS Care and
    Treatment will be an added advantage.
  • Registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental
    Practitioners Council
  • Three years’ experience working in HIV/AIDS services
    within the government health care setting, and in NGO setting VACANCY

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in
    EMTCT/ EID services management.
  • Proven record of mentoring HCWs in EMTCT / EID
    service delivery.
  • Experience providing technical assistance to
    large scale HIV/AIDS HSS interventions within MoH structures and systems.
  • Good working knowledge of EMTCT / EID service
    programs, strategies, processes and techniques used to plan, develop,
    implement and evaluate
    results of EMTCT / EID service programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal
    skills including the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge of USG programming policies and
    regulations, MoH and district procedures and practices.
