maintains the lead in the Quality of its products in order to remain
competitive and to maintain the DIAGEO brands reputation.  UBL has established Quality, Food safety,
environmental and Occupational health and Safety policies that ensure effective
management of Quality, Food safety, environment and Occupational health and
Safety. These policies have to be adhered to so as to ensure total control and
Brand Protection at all times.
                          
Job Summary: The Quality
Analyst Spirits is mainly responsible for the accountability and responsibility
for product Quality at the spirits site. 
As well as  maintenance and
calibration for laboratory equipments and timely reports any deviation to QCM/
Instrumentation team. Ensure there is a backup machine in case of failure for
critical analyses.  The incumbent will provide
quality assurance for spirit brands at all production stages (Raw materials,
Packaging materials, Neutral spirit, Blending, packaging and warehousing)
through analysis, inspection and effective process control measures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates
    blending operations according to brand formulations.
  • Coordinates
    and prepares the Spirits team for all systems audits.
  • Coordinates
    and ensures the sprits process runs according to the specified work
    instructions in terms of Quality and food safety to produce high quality
    products safe for consumption consistently.
  • Ensures
    adherence to sampling frequency for all process monitoring tools by
    operators e.g. OPQR (Outgoing Product Quality Rating).
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Quality
    Index for the Spirits plant maintained within UBL specification.
  • Measurable
    percentage drop in PPM Defects
  • Reduced
    Customer/Consumer complaints/returns
  • No
    LTA in the Spirits Quality and blending section.
  • Hygiene
    Audit conducted and records kept.
  • No
    down time in production due to delayed Quality analysis.
  • Raw
    materials within UBL specifications are passed for production.
  • Systems
    put in place and functioning e.g. Spirits Certificate, Raw materials
    record, Quality handover report
  • Achieve
    98% minimum sampling frequency to plan.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant must hold a BSc/Diploma in food science and technology,
    Chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry or microbiology
  • Three
    years’ experience in a busy Quality Control Laboratory.
  • Hands-on
    experience in instrumentation techniques.
  • Line
    management skills especially in Chemical and Microbiological analysis or
    Process Supervision
