populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food
security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.
Job Summary: The Project
Assistant Livelihoods will ensure that NRC and donor standards are met
throughout the project cycle. The Project Assistant will also supervise
technical staff and coordinate of activities internally and with partners are
other aspects of the job.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work
    closely with the project Officer to Ensure project compliance to NRC
    program policy guidelines (SOP’s) and M+E Frame work, country, Regional
    and Global strategies etc.
  • Ensure
    community mobilization and sensitization of beneficiaries conducted in an
    organized manner.
  • Work
    closely with project community leaders, government structures during
    registration and verification of beneficiaries.
  • Attend
    workshops organized by NRC, government and other partners at the District
    and grass root level.
  • Monitor
    Cash transfer and agricultural food production activities.
  • Participate
    in distribution of project inputs e.g. Cash Transfer, Agro/Small Business
    materials to the target groups
  • Coordinate
    with community, government structures and other NGOs during implementation
    of livelihood activities (Sub county leaders, block leaders, camp
    commandants, Refugee welfare council.
  • Ensure
    implementation of project activities according to work plan, and share
    project progress Reports.
  • Gather
    impact stories for program documentation and M+E Reporting.
  • Prepare
    and file relevant documents as required by line manager e.g. Purchase
    requests, Project Reports, Goods Received notes, Distribution reports etc.
  • Mobilize
    and sensitize communities on Agricultural food production, cash transfers
    programming, Micro small scale business Establishment, Protection and
    Nutrition etc.
  • Actively
    participate in the selection and Recruitment of beneficiaries targeted to
    benefit from the program with guidance of the beneficiary selection
    criteria and File the data.
  • Organize
    and train beneficiaries ‘on agricultural production, Selection, Planning
    and management of micro small scale businesses enterprises, cash transfer
    etc.
  • Participate
    in the distribution for all project inputs meant for target beneficiaries.
  • Regularly
    collect accurate project related information/Data for submission to the
    M+E for reporting.
  • Ensure
    collection and documentation of project significant impact stories.
  • Ensure
    Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and Annual documentation of project Reports for
    submission to the Project Officer. Monitor Vocational Skills Training
    activities.
  • Supervise
    and monitor VST skills instructors and other incentive workers at the
    Centre.
  • Represent
    NRC in coordination meetings organised at the settlement levels with other
    Key stake holders including OPM, UNHCR and the District Production
    Department.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Project Assistant
    Livelihoods job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural
    / Forestry / Aquaculture
  • At
    least three years’ experience from working with Food Security/Livelihood
    projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous
    experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented
    results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Some
    knowledge of English
