About USAID UHSS Grant:
The purpose of Uganda Health
Systems Strengthening (UHSS) is to strengthen the health system through
improving leadership and accountability for results in public and private
health sectors at both national and local levels. The activity seeks to
strengthen central level stewardship and district level management of the
health system; support initiatives that increase domestic financing for health;
identify and implement interventions that increase efficient use of key health
resources; and strengthen state and non-state community systems for improved
quality health services.
Job Summary: The Grants
Director will possess a robust understanding of how civil society and
non-governmental organizations operate on the community, district and regional
level of the Ugandan health system. S/he will oversee local subcontracting
design, management, and monitoring process for a portfolio of regional and
community level grantees. This includes oversight of grants and subcontracts,
from application of award to administration, monitoring and closeout. S/he will
serve as a key interface between technical staff and local grantees. The Grants
Director will work closely with finance staff to build recipient capacity in
financial management and USAID regulation compliance



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the USAID Project Grants Director career opportunity
    must hold a Master’s degree or higher in Accounting
  • Finance,
    Business Administration or a related discipline
  • At
    least seven years of relevant experience in administrative and financial
    management of large, complex USAID projects with granting programs
  • Experience
    managing USAID or other donor-funded development programs preferred
  • Familiarity
    with compliance to Federal Acquisition Regulations required
  • Demonstrated
    leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Professional
    level of oral and written fluency in English required
  • Fluency
    in Ugandan languages preferred
