Job Title:         Media Relations Officer

SolarNow is an asset financing
company that sells high quality solar product and appliances to households and
businesses in Uganda. The company started in 2011 and has since opened 46
branches throughout Uganda, employs around 600 people. 
Job Summary: The Media
Relations Officer will be responsible for overseeing communication to media,
including preparing communication content i.e. articles, press kits. The
officer cultivates and manages relationships with media representatives.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Brand Promotion:
  • Tasked with advertising and public relations.
  • Identify appropriate media channels for advertisement
    and spot media promotions opportunities.
  • Identify communication gaps and propose
    solutions.
  • Create Communication Content i.e. articles and press releases for the media to
    various media contacts and ensure effective distribution of             such content.
  • Produce background briefing and prepare
    spokespeople for interviews and talk shows.
Media Audit:
  • Track progress of Media contracts and compliance.
  • Monitor media coverage.
  • Make regular media surveys to assess communication
    needs, effectiveness and media campaign success rates.
Media Channels Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong media relationships
    to ensure leverage.
  • Attend press conferences and media interviews.
  • Maintaining media database with key media
    contacts and co-ordinate incoming media requests



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant for the SolarNow Media Relations Officer job placement must hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in Public relations, Media management, Mass Communication , Journalism or other
    related subject.
  • At
    least two years of experience in PR and media management from any
    reputable organisation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good computer skills i.e. Ms. Office package
  • Ability to manage big workload with strong
    organisation skills.
  • Active team member and can work under pressure
    to meet deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of national and regional
    media
  • Highly creative and passionate about work
