About Program:
IDLO, with the financial support of the Swedish International
Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) is currently undertaking the inception of
a 5-year Community Justice Program (CJP) that seeks to enhance the
accessibility, quality and sustainability of justice services delivered for
rural, vulnerable and marginalised communities in Uganda. The CJP, to be
rolled-out once the country office set-up is completed, will focus on legally-empowering
grassroots communities, and enhancing the capacity of duty bearers at the
community level to provide the most vulnerable and marginalised citizens with
quality legal knowledge and legal aid to uphold their basic rights, challenge
their grievances in an equitable manner, and obtain effective justice remedy
and reparation or compensation from both formal and informal justice
mechanisms.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver cum Logistics Assistant will be responsible for the following:
  • Drive
    staff on official duties within Kampala town, during up-country field
    missions and a
    lso for HQ senior staff on working missions to
    Uganda.
  • Ensure
    that the vehicle is in road-worthy condition, appropriately fueled and has
    valid insurance.
  • Ensure
    the vehicle log-book is regularly updated.
  • Assist
    in delivery of office mail within Kampa
    la.
  • Support
    the finance and Program team in making logistical arrangements for Program
    and office meetings including assisting in preparing documentation for
    suppliers’ procurement and payments, meeting service providers to confirm
    venue set-up and liais
    ing with contracted suppliers to ensure
    timely delivery of procured goods and services.
  • Assist
    the Finance & Administration Officer in preparing and maintaining
    purchase records, reports and price lists.
  • Coordinate
    and ensure timely availability of off
    ice supplies, stationery,
    consumables and kitchen supplies; maintain the office inventory register
    and prepare and submit periodic inventory reports.
  • Working
    closely with the Finance Officers, coordinate travel arrangements for all
    travelling staff and c
    onsultants.
  • Maintain
    filing records of Program documents and correspondence
  • Perform
    other similar duties as may be requested by the Supervisor and/or the
    Country Manager.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The
    applicant must hold a certificate in logistics or another relev
    ant
    field and a valid driver’s license.
  • Five
    years of relevant experience in a similar role for international
    organizations or large national organizations in Uganda.
  • Excellent
    driving skills with experience driving in all the four regions of Uganda
    and working knowledge of major road routes serving the various districts i
    n
    the country.
  • Good
    working knowledge of vehicle operations including demonstrable ability to
    detect vehicle problems and take appropriate action.
  • Proven
    ability to work well within and as part of a team.
  • Open
    to work in long hours as and when requir
    ed.
  • Ability
    to work under pressure with tight deadlines, flexibility and to respond in
    timely manner to queries and provide feedback.
  • Enthusiastic
    and proactive attitude including willingness to travel frequently to the
    field.
  • Self-motivated
    and dyna
    mic with a willingness and ability to use initiative to
    assist the organization to achieve its objectives; and
  • Highly
    developed sense of ethics, integrity and commitment to IDLO’s mandate.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required.
    Fluency in any of the widely spoken l
    ocal languages in Uganda will
    be an added advantage.
