more inclusive financial sector in Uganda. Our aim is to improve the
livelihoods of Uganda’s low-income households through a market-development
approach.
Job Summary: The Director
of Programmes is the deputy to the Executive Director, and as a member of the
Executive team, is responsible for providing strategic leadership and
direction, which ensures that FSDU programmes achieve their intended
objectives, resulting in a significant impact on financial markets development
and financial inclusion for all in Uganda. He/she bears the ultimate
responsibility of supporting, developing and ensuring well-coordinated pillars
that deliver results in such a way as to maximise achievement of FSDU’s vision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • As
    a member of the Executive Team actively participate in the research,
    business development and implementation of strategic plans that will have
    an impact on the growth and inclusiveness of Uganda’s financial sector
  • Provide
    leadership to the Programmes team; empowering them to deliver against
    FSDU’s goals and objectives
  • Actively
    participate in the development and implementation of a strategy for
    networking, advocacy & communications that will influence key
    stakeholders to support the achievement of FSDU’s strategic goals
  • Lead
    the team in developing and implementing a portfolio of impactful projects
    that will collectively result in significant beneficial changes to
    Uganda’s Financial Sector and a positive impact on end beneficiaries
  • Lead
    the team in the pursuit of innovation, learning and continuous improvement
    in programme quality and impact
  • Ensure
    effective utilisation of the finances associated with the Programmes Team;
    in compliance with FSDU’s policies and donor requirements



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor degree from a reputable
    university
  • Masters
    in a related area (e.g. Law, Economic Policy, Finance, Business
    Administration) strongly preferred
  • Experience
    working with donor or philanthropic funded programmes
  • Ten
    years of work experience and at least five managing and motivating cross
    functional teams
  • Four
    years of work experience in Africa
  • In-depth
    and broad understanding of the technology and financial sectors (including
    some experience in digital financial services, innovation trends)
  • Demonstrated
    problem solving and analytical skills
  • Solid
    communication skills
  • Track
    record of accomplishments in previous roles
  • Experience
    engaging with the highest level of the private and public sectors
