Job Summary: The Communications
Officer will lead the FSD Uganda team in the implementation of an effective
communication strategy that supports the delivery of FSD objectives and has an
impact on influencing stakeholders, industry decision makers in the development
of financial services that are accessible to the poor.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • As
    a member of the team, support the implementation of FSDU’s strategic &
    operational plan by implementing the Communication strategy
  • Lead
    the implementation of an influencing and communication plan ensuring it
    has the impact on influencing key stakeholder mind-set and is effective in
    influencing change within the industry/ sector:
  • Lead
    the building of relationships with media houses
  • Ensure
    existence of an exciting and informative online presence through highly
    available website and social media platform to strengthen FSDU’s
    visibility, presence and positioning for opportunities
  • Lead
    and manage third parties/consultants in a manner that results in a full
    engagement and results in effective delivery



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor Mass Communication, English or
    any other degree with a strong writing background
  • Masters
    (added advantage)
  • A
    minimum of five years of related work experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated
    strong and relevant experience in communication skills (strong public
    speaking and writing skills)
  • Demonstrated
    experience in developing key messages for advocacy
  • Demonstrated
    experience working with media houses (especially in information
    dissemination)
  • Proven
    track record in developing media relations and strategic partnerships
  • Demonstrated
    experience in content development for various media platforms (radio, TV,
    website, social media)
  • Proven
    track record in managing consultants/service providers including
    development of terms of reference where required
  • Candidates
    will be required to submit three published writing samples and examples of
    social media engagement (in English)
