Regional Health Integration to Enhance Health Services in Eastern Uganda Project

fosters local solutions to health care challenges by improving health worker
performance, strengthening health systems, harnessing technology, and
leveraging partnerships. In collaboration with governments, nongovernmental
organizations, and private- sector organizations around the world, IntraHealth
champions the needs and contributions of health workers—from doctors and nurses
to community health workers to health facility managers—and works to ensure
they have the tools, supplies, information, training, and support they need to
provide communities they serve with the best possible opportunity for health
and well-being.
implement the USAID RHITES-E which supports the Government of Uganda (GOU) and
key stakeholders to increase availability and utilization of high quality
health services in 21 districts in Eastern Uganda and 2 in Karamoja by
strengthening health systems and improving the quality of, access to, and demand
for health services with attention to equity and underserved populations.
District Program Officer (DPO) will be responsible for the overall coordination
of USAID RHITES-E Activity supported initiatives in the district of allocation.
S/he will ensure the implementation of the RHITES-E and District specific work
plan and interventions in the focus districts and maintain collaborative
relationships with DHMT, facilities and other implementing partners to enhance
the capacity of district and facility staff to carry out essential services and
ensure adherence to Government of Uganda (GOU) and USAID technical and ethical
guidelines/policies.
- The
ideal candidate for the USAID RHITES-E Project District Program Officer
(DPO) job placement must hold a Basic degree BSN, MBChB, Social Sciences,
or Clinical Medicine. A Master’s degree in Public Health or its equivalent
will be of an added advantage - Broad
knowledge and understanding of the District Health System, Experience
implementing Quality Improvement initiatives and conducting health
facility mentorships will be an added advantage. - At
least four years of relevant professional experience managing and
implementing health service delivery programs. - Proven
ability to work effectively with Government representatives, private
for-profit. - Applicants
for this position in the districts of Serere, Kaberamaido, Ngora, Kumi,
Katakwi, Amuria, Soroti, and Bukedea should have proven technical
knowledge and skills in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Nutrition and
Family Planning, Quality Improvement and Health System Strengthening. - Applicants
for this position in the districts of Butaleja, Bukwo, Kibuuku, Budaka,
Pallisa, Butebo, Namisindwa, Sironko, Bududa, Manafwa, Mbale, Kapchorwa,
Bulambuli, Kween and Tororo should have proven technical knowledge and
skills in HIV Care and Treatment, Family Planning, Maternal Child Health
Services, Ql and understanding of HSS. - Additional
experience and understanding of sub award/sub grant management will be an
added advantage for applicants interested in the districts of Tororo and
Mbale.
