About Us:
The Uganda Youth Network
(UYONET) is a regional focused leading umbrella Youth CSO Network that works to
mainstream young peoples’ engagement in development and governance processes in
East Africa and beyond. UYONET was started in 2002 to respond to the increasing
demand for a collective platform for research, training and policy advocacy for
young people by young people. With a membership of 31 district networks
constituted by over 147 youth organizations, UYONET has continued to be the
apex of youth programming and designing appropriate interventions that respond
to the needs of the youth across the region.
Job Summary: The Programme
Officer IT will lead and coordinate all leadership programming and enabling us
to continue to position young people to build a stronger youth movement in
Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Implementation and
Coordination (70%)
  • To
    adopt a proactive approach and responsibility in providing ICT support,
    advice and one to one training to staff and beneficiaries.
  • To
    install, maintain, upgrade and repair a wide range of ICT equipment.
  • Rectify
    problems relating to the malfunction of ICT equipment including software.
  • Respond
    to ICT Support requests in a timely fashion to ensure minimum disruption.
  • Assist
    with computer recycling and arrange for the safe disposal of used toner
    cartridges.
  • Assist
    with the administration of the telephone system.
  • Assist
    with the ICT computer club at lunchtimes in the Learning Resource Centre.
  • Install
    and upgrade both systems and application software as required adhering to
    all licensing regulations.
  • Maintain
    the school’s ICT Online room booking system
  • To
    maintain an inventory of computer hardware and software (including
    licences).
  • Perform
    preventive maintenance duties on items of ICT hardware, including the
    cleaning of equipment.
  • Report
    any suspected security breaches to the ICT Systems Manager
  • To
    monitor and maintain general ICT consumable stock to ensure adequate
    supplies are available in a timely and cost effective manner ensuring Best
    Value at all times.
  • To
    monitor and keep a log of all breakdowns and alterations to the network.
  • To
    assist with the design and maintenance of the UYONETl’s intranet, web site
    and digital
Fundraising and partnership
20%:
  • Take
    active participation in fundraising for UYONET engagements through use of
    ICT technology
  • Disseminate
    relevant information to partners, beneficiaries and potential members of
    UYONET
Other 10%: Other duties as required, sometimes requiring
working on weekends and holidays for which time off can be taken.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant must hold a graduate degree in relevant field of study
  • At
    least five years’ experience in development sector in an African context,
    including good knowledge of advocacy and policy engagement.
  • Minimum
    of three years’ experience in programme design and management including
    proven experience of managing large programmes relating to youth
    development initiatives
  • Knowledge
    of Policy, leadership development, governance is a must.
  • Strong
    partnership development and networking skills
  • Excellent
    numeracy skills with experience in budget development and management
  • Excellent
    understanding of project cycle management
  • Excellent
    report writing skills particularly donor reporting.
  • Fluent
    in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent
    IT, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills..
  • Preferable
  • Previous
    work experience in Uganda and national languages.
  • A
    clear understanding of contemporary development issues and trends in youth
    health sectors
  • Most
    brand managers must have obtained at least a bachelor’s degree in a
    relevant major and a few years of marketing experience prior to being
    hired.
  • Strong
    leadership skills and excellent communication skills are also required to
    manage and work with a branding team.
  • The
    individual must be results oriented, highly self-motivated and have
    demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Must
    be able to lead and inspire a team of strong programme officers
  • The
    successful candidate will thrive in a multi-cultural environment as part
