The Embassy of Sweden in
Kampala has a broad mandate to promote Swedish-Ugandan relations through
political dialogue, development cooperation, trade and investment, cultural
exchange and through service to Swedish and foreign citizens with issues
related to Swedish authorities. Sweden is strengthening its engagement with
Uganda in the area of trade and investment, and has embarked on a new
programming period of its bilateral development cooperation.
Job Summary: The Programme
Officer – Renewable Energy and Innovation will be responsible for the portfolio
in renewable energy, ICT and innovations. He/she will also lead the work on
catalytic and innovative financing solutions – including guarantees,
development loans, challenge funds, and crowd funding – to mobilize private
investments to achieve development objectives in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Tasked
    with the management of development cooperation projects/programmes
    including preparation, risk analysis, performance review, financial
    monitoring and managing audit processes for the programmes;
  • Serve
    as the focal point for innovative financing solutions for the country
    programme;
  • Prepare
    and submit reports in his/her area of responsibility; and
  • Participate
    in trade promotion activities.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Swedish Embassy Programme Officer – Renewable
    Energy and Innovation should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering,
    Commerce or a related field;
  • Postgraduate
    certification in Finance, Accounting, Renewable Energy
  • Management
    and Funding or any related course;
  • A
    minimum of seven years of demonstrable relevant professional experience of
    managing programmes in the area of renewable energy;
  • Documented
    knowledge and experience of designing commercial financial solutions and
    guarantees;
  • Documented
    experience of working with the private sector. Documented experience of
    managing projects/programmes, including financial matters;
  • Good
    knowledge of innovation systems;
  • Strong
    and demonstrable analytical capacity;
  • Excellent
    written and oral communication skills;
  • Good
    interpersonal skills and experience of working in a multicultural
    environment;
  • Ability
    to adhere to rules, regulations and values of the Embassy of Sweden; and
  • Experience
    with women’s economic empowerment is an added advantage.
