Job Summary: The Communications
Officer WNRR will support the West Nile Refugee Response Program to achieve its
strategic objectives through; production of high quality communication
resources (stories, photos, videos) for internal and external use, supporting
grant acquisition processes, media engagements, VIP field visits, inter-agency
coordination, branding and visibility.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Writing Impact Stories, taking high quality photos, Videos and audio)
  • Identifying, documenting and dissemination
    of most significant change/need stories and promising best practices
  • The jobholder will gather compelling
    visual resources (photos, videos, audio) for awareness creation and donor
    engagements.
  • Create monthly content for webpage and
    social media channels
  • Pitch News angles to local and
    international media
  • Support programs team to prepare reports
    and other donor-engagement materials
  • Provide support in producing the West Nile
    Refugee Response Monthly Situation report and News Letter
Media/VIP /donor visits and engagements
  • Provide support in the planning for media
    field visits. (Working on itineraries/ doing pre-visits to locations)
  • Participate in weekly/monthly inter-agency
    coordination meetings
  • Ensure all journalists/media crews get
    media accreditation before they proceed to the response location.
  • Ensuring all visitors and media crews read,
    understand and sign on our child protection protocols
  • Ensuring all VIP guests are treated with
    utmost professionalism and care
Brand management, Visibility and reputation risk
  • Reputation risk monitoring and key
    messaging
  • Ensuring all field programs and staff have
    adequate branding and visibility materials.
  • Tasked with ensuring proper usage of the
    World Vision logo and colors for all branded materia



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the World Vision Communications
    Officer job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in
    communications/journalism/media studies
  • Three years’ experience in similar role,
    preferably with non-government organization
  • Candidates should be proficient with
    Skills in editing software like adobe InDesign, Adobe illustrator, Adobe
    Premier pro, or Publisher
  • Strong writing and editing skills required
  • Video and photography skills required
  • Interviewing skills and ability to create
    safe spaces for conversations
  • Strategic thinking
  • Good coordination skills
  • Be a self starter
