About UNRA:
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of
Parliament; The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became
operational on 1st July 2008.  The
mandate of UNRA is to develop and maintain the national roads network, advise
Government on general roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport
concerns, among others.
Job Summary: The Senior
Records Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies
for records management to improve custody, access, safety and archival/disposal
of UNRA records.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Develop systems and monitor implementation
    of the legal, regulatory and administrative standards in order to
    facilitate proper management of UNRA records;
  • Develop and monitor the implementation of
    UNRA’s Retention and Disposal Schedule to ensure timely and proper
    disposal of records;
  • Develop systems for mail management in
    UNRA in order to facilitate timely delivery of mail;
  • Develop systems for the management,
    retrieval and safe custody of soft records;
  • Develop records keeping guidelines for
    different types of records to guide the access and safety of records and
    information;
  • Plan and manage the performance and
    development of staff under supervision.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The applicant for the UNRA Senior Records
Officer job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree in either; Library &
Information Science or Records & Information Management;
  • Possession of a Post graduate
    qualification in library Science, information management;
  • At least five years’ experience in records
    management with at least 2 years at a supervisory level in a reputable
    organization;
  • Extensive knowledge of Records management
    policy, Records Archives Act, Archive management and other relevant
    legislation.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to
    develop others;
  • Excellent interpersonal, particularly
    staff/management relations, oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work and produce accurate
    results in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks;
  • Ability to follow instructions and
    communicate effectively;
  • High degree of integrity.
