Nutrition & Mother-and Child Health; and Supporting Small Holder Farmers to
Access Markets. WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
Job Summary: The Business
Support Assistant (Logistics) will deliver standard business support processes
for a specific professional area of work, to facilitate effective service
delivery of the United Nations World Food Programme Office.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The incumbent ensures accurate daily and
    weekly reports on food and NFIs are shared by the EDPs and ensure that
    internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are
    maintained;
  • The jobholder also reports timely any
    anomaly encountered from/by transporters in the delivery of cargo from the
    CDPs to EDPs and finally to the FDPs.
  • Ensures utilization of WFP documents for
    all warehouse transactions as per WFP rules and regulations (waybills,
    LTI, stock reports, loss reports etc.).
  • The Business Support Assistant (Logistics)
    ensures daily and monthly reconciliation of stock reports with the
    commodity-tracking unit.
  • Ensures Storekeepers in-charge are prompt
    in effecting segregation of damaged food consignments/stocks and these are
    stacked separately for immediate reconditioning/reconstitution.
  • Carries out regular inspection of
    commodities under storage and report any anomaly.
  • Conducts inventory and collate monthly
    inventory reports.
  • Quickly responds to queries on commodities
    in the field and elsewhere within the programme,
  • Institutes loss mitigation measures, loss
    analysis and reporting,
  • Follows up spoilt food disposal
    authorizations, execution and ensure the documents are kept for audit
    purposes.
  • Participates in training staff at EDPs on
    storage procedures and practices as necessary.
  • Ensures that food and non-food items (NFI)
    are controlled and accounted for according to WFP warehouse procedures.
  • Regularly monitors and supervise the
    activities of storekeepers, tally clerks and casual labourers at the CDP.
  • Carries out regular inspection of
    commodities under storage and report any anomaly.
  • Performs any other duties as deemed
    necessary.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations
    UN World Food Programme (WFP) Business Support Assistant (Logistics) job
    opportunity should hold a University Degree in either of the following
    fields: Accounts, Procurement & Logistics, Computer Science,
    Statistics or any other related field obtained from a recognized
    Institution Or a Diploma in Accounts, Procurement & Logistics,
    Computer Science, Statistics or any other related field obtained from a
    recognized Institution, coupled with longer relevant working experience;
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a
    relevant field gained from a reputable organization;
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment
    and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word.
  • Broad knowledge of work routines and
    methods in order to complete processes under minimal supervision.
  • Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive
    information to a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to identify data discrepancies and
    rectify problems requiring attention.
  • Ability to offer guidance or basic
    on-the-job training to more junior staff.
  • Excellent command of both written &
    oral English is essential;
  • Language: Fluency (level C) in
    English language. Fluency (level C) or intermediate knowledge (level B) of
    another official language may be required depending on the location of the
    post or area of responsibility.
