Job Summary: The Treasury
Manager will be responsible for ensuring adequate liquidity across the branch
network and the Bank’s operating accounts, responsible for the internal control
in the Finance Department, mobilization of corporate funding or deposits,
optimal investment of the Bank’s financial resources, ensuring that regulatory
reports are prepared and submitted within the deadlines, preparation for and
acting as secretary to the ALCO and other roles as may be assigned from time to
time.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Daily review of the Bank’s Liquidity
    position and ensuring that there is adequate Liquidity in the Bank to meet
    the day to day customer needs and operating requirements;
  • Tasked with the mobilization of funding in
    the form of deposits from individual and corporate customers through
    marketing initiatives and building relationships;
  • In charge of managing the counter party
    banking relationships on an ongoing basis to ensure that stable and
    professional relationships are maintained;
  • Tasked with sourcing and negotiating for
    affordable debt funding from available lenders ensuring that the Bank gets
    good terms;
  • In charge of negotiating good terms for
    the investment of the Bank’s financial resources, taking care of the
    balance between price and concentration levels;
  • Perform the duties of Secretary to the
    Bank’s Assets and Liabilities Committee (ALCO) meetings;
  • Tasked with the preparation of weekly,
    monthly and quarterly reports to the Central Bank and ensuring that they
    are submitted to the Bank of Uganda within the statutory deadlines;
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with counter
    party covenants and statutory requirements;
  • Review of Bank reconciliations in a timely
    manner by the 10th of each subsequent month and ensuring that reconciling
    items are resolved before the next reconciliation;



  • Handle and manage correspondences with
    external and internal stakeholders;
  • Preparation of Bank wide cashflow
    forecasts;
  • Review and monitoring of branch cashflow
    forecasts and position;
  • Tasked with trading foreign exchange;
  • Participation in the Bank’s budgeting
    process; and
  • Perform any other duties as will be
    requested from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Opportunity Bank
    Uganda Ltd (OBUL) Treasury Manager job placement should hold a University
    Degree in a business related subject;
  • Possession of a relevant professional
    qualification will be an added advantage;
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in
    Treasury or Finance or Accounting environment;
  • Experience working with a computerized
    accounting software;
  • Extensive knowledge of Central Bank
    reporting requirements and reports;
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    statutory provisions and reporting requirements (NSSF and URA);
  • Prior experience in the preparation of
    financial reports;
  • Experience with financial services
    providers is an added advantage;
  • Exposure to Forex trading is an advantage,
    (candidates without the experience are encouraged to apply);
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency
    in Microsoft Office especially Excel, word and power point; and
  • Excellent report writing skills.
