Job Title:        Projects Accountant

Reports to: Project Manager
About US:
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is responsible
for bulk purchase of electricity from the generating companies and selling the
electricity in bulk to the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is
also responsible for all exports and imports of electricity to Uganda. UETCL
envisions: “To become a leading strategic business partner in the transmission
and Single Buyer Business and to support sustainable energy development in
Uganda.”
Job Summary: The Projects
Accountant will mainly ensure quality financial reporting that is comparable,
verifiable and provided on a consistent and timely basis.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Providing
    timely accounting support to the Projects Accounting Section specifically
    dealing with maintenance of financial databases for the Project & RAP
    activities using Sun system accounting software.
  • Tasked
    with preparing project management reports & Reconciliations
  • Ensuring there is timely fund
    replenishments.
  • Providing
    support in coordinating the activities of Project Accounts section with
    line -Departments, GoU Ministries & Contractors.
  • Assist
    the Accounts section to manage administrative functions in the Projects
    office.
  • Perform any other duties as may be
    assigned from time to time.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal applicant for the UETCL Projects
    Accountant job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration majoring
    in Accounting.
  • Part
    qualification and/ or membership of the internationally recognised
    professional institutions such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICPAU etc. will be
    added advantage.
  • Extensive
    knowledge in the use of Sun Systems Accounting packages 5.2, 5.3 and or
    5.4 will be added advantage.
  • At
    least five years of post-qualification experience in Project
    Accounting Environment with a bias in financial management, contract
    management and budgeting.
  • Excellent
    analytical ability, goal oriented and self-driven individual who thrives
    on taking on responsibility and achieving results both independently
    and as part of a team.
  • Show
    commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Efficient
    and effective in administration.
  • Willing
    to work long hours.
  • Computer
    literacy skills i.e. MS Excel, and other basic MS Office Packages.
  • Excellent
    interpersonal good communication skills.
  • Team
    work and business awareness.
  • Must
    possess a valid National Driving Permit.
