organization whose mission is to supply medicines, medical equipment and
related healthcare services, and training of assured quality to the people of
Uganda at affordable prices. It was established in 1979 as a joint venture
between the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) and the Uganda Protestant
Medical Bureau (UPMB).
Job Summary: The Internal
Audit Assistant will support the Internal Audit team in the implementation of
approved annual internal audit plans, continual review of systems and controls
to ensure that they are working property in line with JMS’ policies, strategic
objectives, relevant laws, regulations and standards.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The jobholder will verify operating
    policies, procedures and guidelines to determine whether they are adhered
    to.
  • Review JMS’ operational processes,
    evaluate whether controls are adequate and operating effectively, identify
    risks and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the Audit team to carry out
    compliance audits to ensure that JMS complies with statutory and
    regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct special audit assignments/
    investigations as may be required by management.
  • Carry out follow-up audits on audit
    recommendations made as per management proposed actions to ascertain the
    status of implementation.
  • Provide input in the development of audit
    programmes.
  • Conduct regular spot checks on cash and
    inventory.
  • Prepare and submit audit reports on all
    audit assignments performed.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Business Administration (Accounting)
    or BSc (Finance and Accounting)
  • At least Level II of a professional
    qualification such as ACCA or CPA or CIA.
  • A minimum of two years’ audit experience
    in a large and busy firm/organization preferably with complex Inventory
    Management Systems.
  • Practical experience in using Enterprise
    Resource Planning software packages preferably IFS.
  • Practical experience in systems audit and
    knowledge about practice standards like IFRSs, IASs and ISA.
