Job Summary: The Area
Logistics Officer will promptly and effectively conduct procurement activities
with the highest standards of efficiency and integrity
Key Duties and Responsibilities:   
Procurement:
Area Logistics:
  • Follow up all the procurement for all
    offices by making sure that ACTED’s procurement procedures are respected
    at all times and are well documented, according to the ACTED Procurement
    Manual guidelines.
  • Maintain order follow-up database (OFU)
    for area office and compile from all field bases
  • Maintain a price list database for all
    offices in the area, comparing with Kampala when possible
  • Maintain a customer or supplier database
    field office, where possible in order to have an Idea of who is supplying
    what in which office.
  • Follow up on delivery of the contracted
    material from the supplier to ACTED offices.
Moyo Base Log:
  • Tasked with receiving orders from the
    various departments;
  • Formulating a plan to purchase the items
    ordered from the market;
  • Ensure the delivery of the procured items
    to the ACTED base;
  • Accountable for compliance with respect to
    all base procurements;
  • Build and maintain relationships with
    suppliers
Stock/Inventory:
  • Ensure that all procured materials/items
    in all offices are well documented and are registered in the stock.
  • Maintain and update the stock cards every
    time something goes in or out the stock.
  • Maintain proper documentation for stock
    follow up.
  • Maintain a tagging system for all the
    equipment/materials for the area offices.
  • Ensure ACTED assets are used with care.
  • Ensure that all IT& telecommunication
    asset are in working condition;
  • Ensure that all staff understand their
    options for cross-border phone calls (various carriers, dual Sims, CUG,
    etc.)
  • Monthly reporting: (1) stock reports for
    Kampala (2) usage statistics for internal use within Moyo
Fleet Management:
  • Maintain regular watch over ZON Car Track
    and compare movement plan
  • Follow up on relevance and implementation
    of fleet management field manual, including systems management to improve
    service and repair flow.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the ACTED Area
    Logistics Officer job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in
    procurement, Logistics and supplies management from a recognized
    university
  • At least three years’ experience as a
    logistics officer in an emergency context being responsible for
    procurement and contract management, supplies and Reporting.
  • Previous experience with Emergency camp
    setting is an added advantage
  • Experience of logistics, procurement,
    stock control and distribution of goods
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    procurement ethics and donor compliance.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English and Madi is required
