Job Summary: The IT &
Radio Assistant Officer will be responsible to ensure that URCS IT Systems are
robust, and functioning in line with the URCS strategy, URCS IT policies as
well as best practices in ICT.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:

- Take charge of the configuration,
administration, and maintenance of the microsoft exchange online service
and any other cloud service for Uganda Red Cross Society. - Develop, implement, monitor and report on
the performance of the IT unit Systems, plans and budget. - Regularly monitor and maintain the LAN,
Network Servers, Routers, Printers, Switches, Patch Panels, Access Points,
HF and VHF bases, HF and VHF relay stations, satellite Modem to prevent
faults occurring. - Update and maintain the inventory of ICT
equipment and keep track of movements of ICT equipment. - Mentor and train URCS staff and volunteers
on email system, utilization of VHF handhelds. - Carryout missions for new installations
and routine maintenance tours of ICT equipment. - Installation of software packages, basic
repair/maintenance of computer hardware, HF and VHF equipment. - Support the process of identification and
recommendation of suppliers of IT services and goods (Assets and
consumables) as per IT and Finance policies and guidelines. - Work closely with IT solutions providers
to plan, design and implement IT business solutions relevant to different
offices and departments. - Develop, implement and review the
contingency and data disaster recovery plan in accordance with IT policies
and procedures - Evaluate needs for upgrading and
eventually replacing ICT equipment both at HQ and branches to meet URCS
standards. - Train and develop staff and partners in
the use of ICT technologies according to IT unit plans in line with user
and organizational needs and provide technical support and recommend
appropriate technology to staff and partners as per user needs. - Select the most efficient and economic
means for transmission of messages, taking into consideration the nature
and priority of communications to be transmitted. - Perform any other assignment by the
supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

- The ideal candidate for IT/Radio Assistant
Officer job opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
Information Technology, Computer science, computer applications or any
related IT field from a recognized institution. - Possession of a certificate in LAN
Operation is desired - Prior training in enterprise resource
planning systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) is desired - At least two years’ experience in a large
organization. - Extensive knowledge of the URCS system is
required - Previous exposure and experience in
planning & budgeting - Prior experience in I.T. procurement
management - Skills and knowledge of I.T. policy
formulation and implementation - Experience in disaster recovery (Risk
assessment and management) - Skills and knowledge of Data security and
integrity - People management skills
- Broad knowledge and experience in software
and hardware maintenance. - High level of integrity
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to analyse issues and identify
problems
