InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) is a non-governmental humanitarian
national organization established in 1988, and duly registered with the NGO
Board and NGO Forum. IAU is actively involved in programs geared towards the
protection and improvement of lives of disadvantaged people living in urban and
rural areas in Uganda and in the Great Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused
on its thematic areas of Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food
Security, Health (HIV&AIDS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health),
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and
good Management and Governance systems.
Job Summary: The Best
Interest Determination Counsellor will be responsible for managing the Best Interest
Determination (BID) process in InterAid Uganda Urban Refugee Program conduct
BID assessment, present cases to the BID panel and follow up on the
recommendations from the BID panel.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the InterAid
    Uganda Limited (IAU) Best Interest Determination Counsellor job
    opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences,
    Law, Bachelor of Arts, Education, Social Work and Social Administration,
    Psychology, Child Development, Child Psychology, Community Psychology, any
    equivalent.
  • Additional professional training in Child
    Protection will be an added advantage.
  • At least three years’ relevant experience
    in implementing child protection programs including BID assessments
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Good interviewing skills.
  • Good listening skills
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of
    child rights issues and child rights instruments.
