About USAID RHITES-E Project:
IntraHealth International will implement the USAID RHITES-E which
supports the Government of Uganda (GOU) and key stakeholders to increase
availability and utilization of high quality health services in 21 districts in
Eastern Uganda and 2 in Karamoja by strengthening health systems and improving
the quality of, access to, and demand for health services with attention to
equity and underserved populations.
Job Summary: The Nutrition
and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Officer will manage the
implementation of the facility and community based nutrition, WASH and Early
Childhood Development (ECD) activities within the targeted districts in the
cluster. S/he will work in close collaboration with the public and private
health facilities in the cluster to ensure nutrition and WASH service
integration into routine health services at both facility and community level;
and that technical approaches for scaling up nutrition, WASH and ECD services
building are in synch with the RHITES-E approved work-plan and the national
nutrition policy guidelines to ensure sustainability of services. The Nutrition
and WASH Officer will ensure that all supported nutrition and WASH
interventions in the cluster are in tandem with the required national
continuous quality improvement guidance.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the USAID RHITES-E
    Project Nutrition and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Officer job
    placement must hold a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. Possession of a
    Masters in nutrition and/or dietetics is an added advantage
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in
    implementing nutrition programs at facility and community levels.
  • Extensive knowledge of nutrition and ECD
    national technical guidelines and best practices.
  • Previous experience working in health and
    nutrition quality improvement programs including Nutrition Assessment,
    Counseling, and Support (NACS) and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF).
