11619. AFOD Uganda seeks to work closely with rural and urban poor communities
across the country to address their real needs and build local partnership with
institutions/communities and support community structures to jointly identify
and address the underlying causes of poor health and steer social change.
Job Summary: The Warehouse
Supervisor will oversee and account for all food and non-food commodities or
items stored in warehouses. Release such commodities on authorization of
Warehouse Manager with approved distribution plan or Commodity Release Note
(CRN). The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the proper receipt, storage
and dispatch of all commodities (food and non-food) in the warehouse.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Ensuring
    that the warehouse is always kept neat and clean.
  • The
    incumbent will also be ensuring that all doors and windows are secure.
  • Ensuring
    that all commodities entering and leaving the warehouse is done through
    proper requisitions and waybills/delivery notes.
  • Ensuring
    that food trucks are thoroughly checked on arrival, and counting and
    verifying commodities against the waybill/delivery note during off loading
    at the warehouse.
  • Ensuring
    availability of adequate and appropriate storage prior to commodities’
    arrival.
  • Tasked
    with receiving food items in good condition and reporting any food
    received in bad condition.
  • Ensuring
    that all food and non-food items are stacked on pallets, hard board or plastic
    to prevent spoilage and according to their kinds, conditions and by
    shipment.
  • Reporting
    any discrepancies or losses to the immediate supervisor.
  • Reconstituting
    all damaged commodities on approval by the immediate supervisor.
    Disposal of all commodities that is unfit for human consumption upon
    approval for such disposal and in line with donor requirements.
  • Observing
    “FIFO” (First In, First Out) rule when moving food out of the warehouse.
  • Ensuring
    movements of commodities out of the warehouse are authorized by the immediate
    supervisor.
  • Keeping
    commodities ledger and stack cards updated on a daily basis.
  • Reporting
    to the immediate supervisor immediately upon notice of any infestation and
    recommend fumigation based on need and thorough investigation.
  • Preparing
    daily, weekly and monthly food movement report attaching the backups
    for each transaction.
  • Performing
    any other relevant duties assigned from time to time by the immediate
    supervisors
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a
    diploma in stores management, business administration and management,
    logistics and procurement, records and archives management
  • A minimum of two years of related working
    experience in warehouse management or related field.
  • Exhibit
    discipline of honesty, transparency, commitment and loyalty at all times.
  • Must
    be respectful to the beneficiaries, their culture and beliefs.
  • Willingness
    to work in difficult relief settings possessing the following traits:
    selfmotivation and flexibility.
  • Willingness
    to work in insecure environment.
  • Good
    team building and management.
  • Computer
    literacy skills i.e. proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, Power
    Point etc.
  • Possess
    excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
    Very good knowledge of the local language.
