About UNHCR:
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was
established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly.
UNHCR’s mandate under the Statute of the Office of the United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees is to lead and co-ordinate action for international
protection to refugees; seek permanent solutions for the problems of refugees
and safeguard refugee rights and well-being. UNHCR has an additional mandate
concerning issues of statelessness, as it is given a designated role under
Article 11 of the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.
Job Summary: The CBI
Information/Data Management Associate will take overall leadership and guidance
from the Senior CBI Officer, responsible for tracking, organizing, updating and
managing all CBI related data/information and ensuring that such data is
readily available for various program functions such as reporting, data
analysis, proposal development and sharing with internal and external
colleagues and partners. The incumbent will work closely with and support CBI
information management across the various UNHCR thematic sectors particularly
education, health, shelter, livelihoods, food security, nutrition, emergency response
and durable solutions. The jobholder will also be responsible for supporting
partners in information management and ensuring that monitoring activities are
undertaken in a consistent and timely manner. The CBI Information/Data
Management Associate will be based in the CBI unit in Kampala and will be
required to undertake frequent travels to the field.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Track, organize and manage all data
    related to CBI and ensure that such data is adequately verified, updated
    and made available to members of the CBI unit and other program colleagues
    upon request.
  • In collaboration with all functional
    units, participate in assessments undertaken in support of CBI programs
    such as beneficiary assessments, market assessments and feasibility assessments
    and take the lead in managing data during such assessments.
  • Follow-up with sub-offices and partners to
    ensure that monitoring data/reports are regularly collected and captured
    in a timely manner and updated in existing UNHCR corporate databases.
  • Participate in training programs and
    building the capacity of partners in using and administering assessment
    tools, monitoring tools and effectively capturing data related to CBI
    programs.
  • Participate in compiling reports and other
    documents related to CBI programs in the country.
  • Undertake regular field missions to
    monitor the implementation of CBI programs.
  • Perform any other duties as delegated by
    the Senior CBI Officer.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations
    UNHCR CBI Information/Data Management Associate job opportunity should
    hold a University degree in Economics, Statistics, Information Technology,
    social sciences or any other related field.
  • At least three (3) years working
    experience in public, private, national or international organization or
    business with a focus on Information Management
  • Strong data management and analytical
    skills with demonstrated experience including in quantitative methods is a
    requirement.
  • Basic Information Technology skills are
    desirable but not a prerequisite.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of
    monitoring and evaluation processes in project management.
  • Excellent skills and demonstrated
    experience in using excel spreadsheets including other software and
    databases used for data management and analysis.
  • Previous exposure, experience and
    knowledge in financial service industries e.g. mobile money solutions,
    electronic/digital banking systems and rural banking/financial services is
    an added advantage.
  • Ability to see tasks through completion
    with professional integrity.
  • Ability to organise work according to
    established plans, allocating time and resources.
  • Show commitment to participates in
    team/unit tasks and complete assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to engage well with peers and
    immediate work group to ensure overall team assignments are successful as
    needed.
  • Ability to pursue open channels of
    communication with other teams and relevant partners, and actively promote
    ideas and manage information flow.
  • Willingness to exhibit self-awareness and
    the need for development.
  • Ability to use critical thinking to
    identify solutions through inter-relationships.
  • Ability to analyse and compile data into
    relevant and understandable information .
  • Demonstrate interest in and ability to work
    with software and technology tools.
