Job Summary: The Officer
Applications Development will work closely with the IT demand management team
to accurately interpret and analyse business improvement requirements to
formulate optimal solution design to produce clear and detailed specifications
that are operationally feasible
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The incumbent will study existing
    applications landscape working hand in hand with IT architecture team for
    conforming systems architectural design and integration
  • Execute the full lifecycle of software
    development including writing well designed, testable and efficient code
    while complying with project plans, bank policy and industry standards.
  • Tasked with testing the product in a
    controlled, real situation before go-live and preparation of training
    manuals for users and administrators as well as participate in maintaining
    the systems once in production
  • Document and maintain software
    functionality
  • Prepare software verification plans and
    quality assurance procedures
  • Proactively engage stakeholders to
    identify shortcomings in the systems and related applications and provide
    technical advice on cost effective remedying plan.
  • Participate in projects, as directed by
    Manager, Application Development and Support, and in liaison with Manager,
    Development & Peripherals Support as well as the IT Business
    Engagement Manager
  • Assist or execute special projects as
    directed by Manager, Development & Peripherals Support.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Stanbic Bank Officer
    Applications Development job opportunity should hold a bachelor’s degree
    in either computer science/engineering or software engineering (Upper
    second)
  • Advanced programming and Database
    management
  • At least one internationally recognized
    developer certification (e.g MCSA, MTA, CCDH, AWS certified developer)
  • General banking knowledge and customer
    centric mindset with good knowledge of Business processes related to
    banking
  • The applicant must have proficiency in at
    least one compiled language C, C++,C# or Java and one scripting language PHP,
    Perl or Python
  • Demonstrated ability to develop software
    to run on mobile device platforms specifically Android and IOS platforms
  • Excellent knowledge of relational
    databases (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.) and SQL
  • Proficiency in WINDOWS operating system
    and at least one UNIX based OS
  • Mastery in software engineering tools
  • Ability to document requirements and
    specifications
  • Proven experience in as a software
    engineer or software developer.
  • Hands on experience in designing
    interactive applications
  • Experience in developing web applications
    in at least one popular web framework
  • Previous experience with test driven
    development using the agile methodology i.e use of iterative and
    incremental development methodologies·
  • Familiarity with software development
    methodology and release process·       
  • Experience in MS SharePoint development
    will be an added advantage
