About US:
The Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit HIV
research program that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of
understanding between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation
for Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The primary purpose of
MUWRP is to develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate disease
threats of public health importance to Uganda.
Job Summary: The Data
Quality Assurance /Quality Control (QA/QC) Coordinator will serve as the Data
QA/QC Coordinator for the Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP)
PEPFAR program. His/her primary responsibility will be to ensure that the data
that is produced and captured on any form and entered into any of the
organization databases fits the purpose and complies with protocol requirement.
The incumbent will be responsible for developing and coordinating quality
control and assurance activities and programs necessary to generate valid and
reliable data. He/she will document the data test results and provide
suggestions required to attain the best quality possible.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The jobholder will promote performance
    improvement and quality assurance programs throughout the department
  • Define quality control and assurance
    measures in conjunction with other data staff
  • Set-up, maintain, and review documentation
    and control procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with international and
    national legislation and standards
  • Supervise technical team in carrying out
    data quality checks and tests.
  • Determine relevant data quality training
    requirements and assist with staff training.
  • Keenly monitor performance by collecting
    relevant information and preparing statistical reports
  • Capture program data into electronic data
    bases as provided by MUWRP
  • Write management and technical system
    reports.
  • Evaluate and execute departmental standard
    Operating Procedures
  • Collate and analyze performance charts and
    data against defined parameters
  • Conduct quality management meeting with
    data staff
  • Work closely with staff of various
    departments to ensure quality data for all conducted research and address
    any queries or data anomalies with relevant staff.
  • Exercise and maintain confidentiality of
    client information at all times.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by
    the supervisor or designee.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Data Quality
    Assurance /Quality Control (QA/QC) Coordinator job opportunity should hold
    a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or population studies with experience in
    clinical research or monitoring and evaluation.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience
    supporting M&E for HIV/AIDS MoH and PEPFAR supported programs.
  • Ability to work in teams, motivate,
    influence data staff and manage time and projects.
  • Organizational, planning, research and
    problem solving skills. 
  • The applicant must be detail-oriented and understand the
    importance and benefits of data quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
    skills to present findings and recommendations
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and
    interact with data users and managers
  • Strong statistical and numerical ability
  • Possess technical skills necessary to work
    with computer systems such as knowledge of office software such as
    Microsoft word, excel and access, as well as knowledge of data
    manipulation tools and analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and possess
    strong customer service skills
