multimedia business housing newspaper, magazines, internet publishing,
television, radio broadcasting, commercial printing, advertising and
distribution services. NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda Stock Exchange, with an
expected turnover of over UGX 60 billion (FY 2010/2011).
Job Summary: The ICT User
Support Officer will provide front line ICT support for users by providing
technical support and troubleshooting for all aspects of computer hardware,
network and software to ensure user satisfaction.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • The jobholder will troubleshoot computer
    hardware, software and user related issues by establishing the root cause
    and then fixing the problem to ensure minimal disruption to work.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance for hardware
    and software by evaluating the computer status to minimize system
    breakdowns.
  • Install and deploy IT equipment with all
    the required software, following the checklist to ensure that the users
    have all the necessary tools to work.
  • Mentor and train users in basic hardware
    and software use by identifying the ICT knowledge gaps to empower user to
    carry out their day to day activities.
  • Identify and assess user IT related needs
    and advise management so that they can make informed decisions on user
    needs.
  • Attend to user service requests in a
    timely manner to ensure that there is customer satisfaction at all times.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicants for this job opportunity
    must hold a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in an IT related field
    from a recognized University;
  • Full ITIL certification will be an added
    advantaged.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant
    experience.
  • Basic knowledge on IT hardware, software
    and network technologies.
  • Ability to work independently to
    troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and identify technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the
    ability to work well with cross functional teams;
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Creative and problem solving skills.
  • Good time management skills
  • Keen attention to detail.
