Job Summary: The Accountant
Revenue will assist the Financial Controller in ensuring revenue and related
account balances are reported accurately and in line with relevant
International Accounting Standards, legal and statutory requirements as well as
underlying stakeholder agreements for the different company revenue streams.
The incumbent will provide supervisory support to junior staff in the finance
department
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly
    revenue reports and analyses for all divisions.
  • Preparation of monthly revenue and cash
    projections.
  • Offer support in the preparation of
    monthly reports and accompanying schedules, including budget vs. actual
    variance reports and supporting narratives, including follow-up and
    documentation of significant variances identified.
  • Preparation of monthly returns to the
    ministry for all relevant divisions.
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly
    bank reconciliations for review by the financial controller including
    follow up of long oustanding reconciling items identified.
  • In charge of monitoring collections from
    customers on a weekly basis including follow up of long
    outstanding/overdue balances.
  • Tasked with  the preparation of recurrent journal
    entries for review by the financial controller.
  • Perform any other duties as may be
    assigned by management / supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate should hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in commerce/ accounting or business related course with
    a professional qualification either of ACCA/ CIMA/CPA.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience in a
    similar role in a busy organisation.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    International Accounting Standards, International Financial Reporting
    Standards as well as working knowledge of local tax laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of accounting software and other
    computer applications e.g MS Word, MS Excel etc. Previous experience in
    working with SUN system is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving
    skills.

    ability to multitask.
