Job Summary: The Human Resources Officer originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development at Raising The Village. The Human Resources Officer coordinates implementation of services, policies, and programs; reports to the Finance and Administration Manager, and assists and advises Raising The Village Management about Human Resources issues.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   
Recruitment:
  • Conducts the recruiting planning meetings when needed staff is identified.
  • Coordination of all aspects of recruitment include posting, tracking of candidates and the interview process
  • Reviews resumes for all candidates and interviews, when assigned, candidates for employment.
  • Tasked with the preparation of Paperwork, as required
  • Conducts onboarding and orientation for new employees
  • Ensures appropriate resources are available for new employees
HR Administration/Policy and Procedures:
  • Prepares and reviews RTV policy and procedures, employee contracts and documentation, templates and forms
  • Reviews organizational and space planning throughout RTV head and field offices
  • Provides day-to-day benefits administration services. Assist employees with any claim issues.
  • Develops and schedules benefits orientations and other benefits training.
  • Recommends changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention.
Performance Review Process:
  • Coordinate the performance review assisting managers and staff to complete in a timely manner, twice a year
  • Review and recommend, based on feedback review and results, HR issues to senior management.
  • Provide employment development opportunities (in-house or external training) based on identified needs.
HR Projects and Workplan:
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Maintain and execute year workplan to improve the Human Resource function within the organization.
  • Submit reports to Management Team highlighting HR issues.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Assists to establish departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the company's strategic goals.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The ideal candidate for the Raising The Village Human Resources Officer job opportunity should hold a University Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Organization Development, or related fields
  • At least two to five years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources.
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations is preferred.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred, not required.
  • Previous experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs is an added advantage.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of employment laws and practices.

Job Summary: The Communication Officer will be responsible to lead and coordinate War Child Canada Uganda’s communication and outreach work and ensure regular documentation, internal and external dissemination and promotion of WCC projects activities, operations and events in Uganda. The incumbent will also support the country team in the design and production of Information, Education and Communication (IEC), internal and external communication, advocacy and visibility materials.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
Communication and Outreach Management (50%):
  • Work in liaison with the Country Director, Head of Programs and Communication Manager at WCC Headquarters in the development and implementation of country level communications strategy and protocols.
  • Steer the implementation of War Child Canada’s Uganda’s communication work and ensure that it is fully understood by the country team.
  • Ensure that all trainings, workshops and public education activities are adapted in accordance to the Uganda context, and all WCC communication and brand guidelines are followed at each level.
  • Work with and support project teams in developing and implementing context- appropriate Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and community outreach communication packages, including radio spot packages and panel discussion programs.
  • Build and maintain internal communication activities to keep staff informed of organizational vision, mission, values, and program achievements.
  • Work in liaison with the Country Director and Head of Programs, lead on the timely and appropriate production and dissemination of success stories of projects, operations and events through publications, intemal/extemal newsletters, media, WCC website, and social media.
  • Lead and coordinate all activities related to the photography and production of documentaries of WCC Uganda projects.
  • Work closely with program teams and provide technical support in program design and development process, with particular focus on communication and visibility.
  • Conduct regular field visits to WCC project sites in order to gather information, data, and documentation of best practices and success stories.
  • Support the field program staff in writing and producing high quality success stories and other communication materials.
  • Assist the country team and ensue that they fully understand and adhere to War Child Canada’s branding guidelines and compliance to communication strategy, policy and protocol.
  • Represent WCC Uganda in external communication forums, working groups and networks.
Media Engagement (30%)
  • Build and maintain good contacts and relationships with key electronic and print media outlets (radio, TV, press) and communicate WCC work, success stories and events, and raise the profile of the organization.
  • Support the Country Director in all activities related to media engagement including interviews.
  • Work in close consultation with the Country Director, be responsible to organize and accompany all media visits to WCC project locations, including photography and filming of projects.
  • Ensure that War Child Canada’s branding guidelines are followed when it comes to communication with media and use of media.
Documentation, Reporting and Learning (20%):
  • Ensure all policy documents, communication policy, tools and templates are rolled out and staff and partners clearly understand these.
  • Prepare and submit regular communication related updates as well as monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the Country Director.
  • Work closely with the Head of Programs and field program teams to collect, document and disseminate success stories, high resolution photos or any other communication material required as per HQ for internal and external dissemination.
  • Lead on producing internal WCC Uganda monthly updates and quarterly newsletters.
  • Liaise with WCC Communication Manager at HQ as well as Communication Officers in other WCC operation countries, to share best practices and learning.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the War Child Canada Communications Officer job placement should hold a University degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies or related field.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible and relevant experience working in the field of communication or public relations.

Following the signing of the Lusaka Ceasefire Agreement in July 1999 between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and five regional States (Angola, Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda and Zimbabwe) in July 1999, the Security Council established the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) by its resolution 1279 of 30 November 1999, initially to plan for the observation of the ceasefire and disengagement of forces and maintain liaison with all parties to the Ceasefire Agreement. Later in a series of resolutions, the Council expanded the mandate of MONUC to the supervision of the implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement and assigned multiple related additional tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Within delegated authority and depending on location, the Procurement Officer may be responsible for the following duties:
  • The jobholder plans, develops and manages all procurement and contractual aspects of projects of significant complexity related to worldwide procurement of
  • diverse services and commodities (e.g. information technology, pharmaceuticals, building maintenance materials, office equipment and supplies, furniture, freight forwarding/3PL services, catering services, IT services, maintenance services for various equipments etc.), taking into account local economic and other conditions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO Procurement Officer job should hold an Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, commerce, engineering, law or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in procurement or contract management or contract administration or logistics or supply chain management in the public or private sector, of which at least two years should be directly related to first-hand procurement and/or contracting experience at the international level is required.
  • Procurement experience in peacekeeping missions and/ or field duty stations within the UN system would be an asset.

  • Coordination and management of the international staff recruitment under the guidance of the P&C Director.
  • Coordinate international payroll administration and reconciliation with appropriate paying office
  • Manage/coordinate international staff relocation for International staff
  • Provide support to International HR for managing employee data in personnel files/HR data systems
Hay Job Grading: Oversee the NO job grading processes including leading process of grading new jobs, building capacity in National Office to undertake grading process and updating the JEM database

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the World Vision People & Culture (HR) Specialist Recruitment and International Staff job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent field of study
  • At least three to four years’ experience in recruitment and/or Human Resources Management is required.
  • Preferred: Corporate and/or Agency recruiting experience is preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the Uganda labor and employment laws.
  • Significant exposure and experience in recruitment especially of professional and technical positions (both national and international applicants).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all recruiting processes (applicant sourcing, resume screening, applicant assessment, interview, negotiating contracts) as well strong sourcing and talent management skills.
  • Ability to be a team player, collaborator, work independently and able to effectively network (over any medium of communication e.g. Internet, phone, face-to-face) across all levels of the organization internally and externally.
  • Must have strong critical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills with great fluency in both English
