About US:
Following the signing of the Lusaka Ceasefire Agreement in July 1999 between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and five regional States (Angola, Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda and Zimbabwe) in July 1999, the Security Council established the United Nations Organization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) by its resolution 1279 of 30 November 1999, initially to plan for the observation of the ceasefire and disengagement of forces and maintain liaison with all parties to the Ceasefire Agreement. Later in a series of resolutions, the Council expanded the mandate of MONUC to the supervision of the implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement and assigned multiple related additional tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Movement Control Assistant will carry out the following duties:
Cargo Warehouse duties:
  • Receives and registers cargo movement requests for air/ground transportation.
  • Prepares and completes cargo manifests and any other related documentation.
  • Makes arrangement for customs clearance and related documentation.
  • The jobholder lifts and carries cargo as required, and ensures it (including dangerous goods) is loaded in accordance with the International Regulation.
  • Informs appropriate consignees in due time on delivery of shipments.
Tracks and traces missing cargo and provide with adequate feedback.
Passenger Booking duties:
  • Receives and ensures the movements of personnel (MOP’s) are received within the required period and that they are all electronically prepared.
  • Ensure all passengers (as far as is possible) are aware of the check in times or changes to flights and minimize flight delays by ensuring that the check-in counters are opened and closed on time.
  • Check-in passenger to include manifest confirmation/amendments, baggage identification and weighing distribution of boarding passes.
  • Boards and deplanes passengers in accordance with the safety procedures standards in respect of refueling, use of mobile phone and approaching f aircraft.
  • The jobholder ensures that all passengers, their baggage or property are scanned and accounted for at the time of check-in.
  • Fulfils the duties of baggage handler by retrieving or loading the baggage into the aircraft, transferring of luggage to the terminal area, and follows-up on misplaced or any damaged baggage.
  • Assist in coordination of troop rotations.
Support and Planning duties:
  • Receives supplies from different sections, arranges for transportation and follows-up from delivery to destination.
  • Prepares and process monthly attendance records, MOPs/Waivers, leave requests, F.10 claims, Cargo Movement Requests (CMRs), e-job supply requests and other documentation as required.
  • Prepares, compiles and maintains the monthly passenger and cargo statistics related to air/ground movements.
  • Drafts routine correspondences and distributes to various officials.
  • Performs other duties as and when required by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO Movement Control Assistant job should hold a High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Vocational Training certificate in air cargo operation is an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Air Cargo Operations is desirable.
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in movement control related services or general experience in the field of transport, travel related or logistic fields or administration.
  • Working experience in providing International Air Cargo Operations and in the handling and transportation of Dangerous Air Cargo are an asset
  • Previous exposure and experience working in a multicultural and/or international work environment is highly desirable.
  • Valid national driving license and Operator license for forklift or other form of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) are required
  • Proven knowledge of Cargo Stowage on board aircraft; Weight and balance calculations, preparation of airway bills and building of aircraft cargo pallets; Valid certificate in IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations; Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets and database are desirable
  • Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Job Summary: The Gender Based Violence (GBV) Case Worker will provide case management services to GBV survivors. The incumbent also supports the protection sector in quality implementation of the GBV thematic area in synergy with the larger protection and community services components.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • The incumbent will conduct all steps of the case management process: Intake, assessment and engagement, case planning, supported referrals, developing practical skills, case review, building client capacity.
  • Work closely with other stake holders for the integration of the survivors back into community and enhance access to livelihood opportunities for GBV survivors to support their healing and reintegration process.
  • Input the GBVIMS on a daily/weekly basis and produce monthly reports from the same to share with UNHCR.
  • Working with ‘at risk’ young people, their families, community, to strengthen community based interventions.
  • Carry out routine visits to the protection/safe houses and asses the needs of the survivors under safe keeping and the general state of safe houses.
  • Ensure up-to-date filing and documentation of GBV cases in line with UNHCR and DRC standard tools.
  • The jobholder will attend to protection concerns of persons of concern, provide GBV survivors with information and resources to access services and make appropriate referrals to other service providers if required.
  • Offer basic psychosocial support services to survivors. Determine the need for therapeutic psychosocial or psychiatric support for further referral to specialized service providers.
  • Ensure that all the GBV interventions adhere to protection standards and principles as well as DRC guidelines and accountability standards.
  • Contribute to the daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of SGBV- related projects and interventions in the area of jurisdiction (Rhino camp refugee settlement).
  • Work in close collaboration with the protection team, she/he will proactively contribute to quality and timely writing of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Uphold DRC’s code of conduct and principles of accountability.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Gender Based Violence (GBV) Case Worker career opportunity must hold a University degree in Psychology, guidance and counselling, social work and social administration, social sciences, development studies, or relevant fields.

Job Summary: The Senior Dairy Production & Cluster Coordinator will provide leadership to the team on business and farm production and will be responsible for managing and providing technical guidance to the business operations of the dairy enterprises in the Cluster for the EADD-II project. The incumbent will ensure increased production and productivity in the dairy industry which is a key outcome of the project. Leading and working through a team of Cluster personnel and other consortium staff, he/she will provide technical guidance and support to producer organization boards, staff and farmers on dairy production and productivity issues.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Steer the Cluster team in designing strategies and actions that support Producer organizations increase the value proposition to the farmers and business profitability.
  • Develop implementation plans in collaboration with the Cluster team and ensure that all activities planned for the period are in line with the project’s goals and objectives. Ensure these plans cascade down to monthly plans in order to ensure they achieve agreed objectives.
  • Take lead of the Cluster team in designing programs that can select and support the development of model farms and put in place strategies to upscale adoption of productivity enhancing technologies.
  • Lead efforts to undertake technical productivity analysis in the Cluster EADD-II program.
  • Working closely with the Country MLE Officer and Field Operations Manager at Country project office; create, execute and monitor action plans to support Cluster office livestock data bases at the PO with a view of the enterprises to use the data for improving management and profitability of the enterprises.
  • Provide leadership to the Cluster team in strategy development and creative initiatives to nurture and build linkages between producer organizations, local governments, private sector BDS providers and other development players.
  • Steer the development of a farm business model as a profitable sustainable and growth proposition to small holder farmer, which could be used to replicate and advise interested farmers particularly youth to adopt dairy farming.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or other related field, with five (5) years’ managerial experience in dairy production, dairy value chain management, agriculture development with at least one (1) year experience of how cooperatives work.
  • Possession of a Master’s degree in Animal Science or a related field, plus at least five (5) years’ experience in dairy production management with a background in dairy enterprise management.
  • Previous exposure and experience in developing private public partnerships especially at country level working in matrix reporting environment.
  • Possess the experience and ability to demonstrate dairy as a financial viable business proposition at both the farm and producer organization.
  • Demonstrated creativity, ability to think systematically, willingness and ability to incorporate innovative solutions and design catalytic activities within the production dairy value chain (e.g. the concept of business development services provision).
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the dairy value chain and Heifer’s Value based model.

  • Demonstrated experience in setting robust and sustainable extension systems for producer organizations. This requirement is in line with the need to have built-in exit strategies within the project as a measure of ensuring that there are self-sustaining businesses by end of project.
  • Having a business approach to dairy farming.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in facilitating development of farm-level business plans and feasibility studies including the computation of the associated key financial ratios and benchmarks.
  • Previous exposure and experience in implementing supply promotion/stimulation strategies in the context of dairy sub-sector.

  • Receive patients from the ward at the transfer bay and cross check using a surgical check list.
  • Administer drugs / insert intravenous cannula when prescribed.
  • Keep with the patient until patient is ready for surgery.
  • Identify patient care requirements by establishing rapport with the patient as well as his relatives.
  • Support the surgeon during the operation.
  • Act as a circulating nurse during operation.
  • Disinfect, wash and send the instruments to the sterilization room.
  • Prepare theatre for the next patient.
  • Regularly monitor patients’ vitals regularly and as per doctors’ instructions; and keep proper records until patient is stable
  • Document patient care methodically to enable continuity of care.
  • Uphold patients’ dignity and confidentiality in all patient care operations.
  • Maintain cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests and participating in problem-solving methods.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.(universal precautions)
  • The incumbent must always report any fault, break down of equipment to the supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Respond to any other duties assigned by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should be a Registered Nurse preferably with a Diploma in Nursing
  • Certificate in First Aid
  • Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC)
  • One to two years’ experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Conduct self professionally at all times.
