About US:
The Infectious Diseases
Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC
conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and
Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 150 publications and have impacted
on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over
41 grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May
2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of health
sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of
health.
Job Summary: The
Data Officers will be entering Cross-Sectional Community Survey (CSS) data.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Enter
    data collected from the CSS survey
  • Upload
    data from the tablets at the end of each field day
  • Reconcile
    paper records (logs and forms) with electronic data bases
  • Actively
    participate in routine troubleshooting identifying gaps in the current
    database/system
  • Liaise
    with staff members to investigate and rectify data queries
  • Ensure
    accuracy and completeness of data entered
  • Work
    in liaison with relevant staff on data coding problems and assist in developing
    means for correction
  • Maintain
    confidentiality of records and research findings as appropriate.
  • Participate
    in regular team meetings.
     
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicants for the Data Officer jobs should hold degrees in Statistics, IT
    or related fields with prior experience managing large volumes of data
  • Prior
    experience working with electronic data capture (tablets/smart phones
    technology)
  • Excellent
    communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability
    to work under stringent deadlines and to work independently
  • Willingness
    to live and work up country in Eastern or Western Uganda
