the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter,
education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and
hygiene sectors.
Job Summary:  The Project Manager – Food Security is
responsible for the development and monitoring of the Food Security and
Livelihood project within the West Nile Uganda programme.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Formulate strategies for the Food
    Security/Livelihood project as appropriate at the West Nile level;
  • Prepare/verify proposals related to the
    respective sector;
  • Regularly monitor the Food
    Security/Livelihood project as appropriate and ensure high technical
    quality and synergies;
  • Evaluation, review and quality control of
    ongoing and completed Food Security/Livelihood programmes as appropriate;
  • Identify trends in conditions/standards
    and donor priorities and assess better ways to assist;
  • In charge of training and development of
    staff;
  • Ensure adherence to the Food
    Security/Livelihood tools and handbooks and other NRC policies as
    applicable;
  • Develop partnerships in the humanitarian
    community and coordinate with authorities at provincial and ministry level
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Norwegian Refugee
    Council (NRC) Project Manager – Food Security should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in Social Sciences, Agricultural / Forestry / Aquaculture, Sociology
  • At least four years’ experience from
    working as a Senior Project Manager/Programme Manager in a humanitarian/
    recovery context
  • Experience from working in complex and
    volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the
    position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership
    skills/profile
  • Fluency in English, both written and
    verbal
  • Managing resources to optimize results
  • Strategic thinking
  • Empowering and building trust
  • Handling insecure environments
